Anybody had / have one of these?

One is kind of jumping in my lap, and I wanted to see what you guys thought of them.

Re: Gretsch 5120

Played a couple in my Gretsch search. I find the Electromatic pickups to be disappointing compared to "real" Gretsch pickups, but that's easily correctable.

On the whole, I think Electromatics are up there with PRS SE and G&L Tribute when it comes to worthy import lines. Quality is very good.

Re: Gretsch 5120

I LOVE mine. The neck is smooth, the feel is great, the bigsby is even pretty nice. The stock tuners and pickups aren't bad, but they aren't great either. I replaced the tuners with Schaller locking tuners, and will be putting some TV Jones in eventually.

For the price, they are killer guitars, even if you leave them stock.

Re: Gretsch 5120

Would be trading my Epiphone Les Paul Custom and a pedal for a "new" 5120 with a hard case.

I played my Les Paul against my Dot, P90 PRS SE, and Telecaster, and reaffirmed that it can go. The Les Paul definitely has a voice, but the 335 and Tele sound more like "me" so I'm at peace with a trade if one happens.

I haven't played guitar in...a year, maybe a gear trade like this will reawaken the part of me that loves playing guitar.

Re: Gretsch 5120

Yeah, it's really bad. Moving was last summer, so I was either packed up or unpacking.

After that, it was pregnancy, which eventually led to having an infant, and it's straight up been a year since I've "played."

Sure, I'll play for 5 minutes a day or two a week, but because of my 2.5 year old, all my pedal and amp knobs are on 10 or 0, and my guitars are out of tune (I encourage him to play with all of them), I don't really plug in and go; it's 3 minutes of tuning and knob turning then I play "the boys are back in town" and I get a txt from my wf that says "too loud- come to bed?"

TL;DR- KIDS
