Gretsch Power Jet

played a gretsch power jet and I was really amazed at the tone. it had a b6 Bigsby on it and I expected it to be kinda weak and thin. It drove the amp nicely and had a wonderfull slightly fat tone with clear highs and awsome midrange growl. its weird but you can hear every string with clarity, and the same with the notes. The amp I tried it on was distorted but the guitar notes cut right through with no problem. The Bigsby was nice. No wobbles or dead spots in the bending of the arm. Clean it was nice as well. You can get a good semi hollow tone out of it becouse it has tone chambers and it is a good tone. You can also get a wonderfull clean tone out of it and with the bigsby its even better for shimering vibrato. This really is a cool guitar. Like a Les Paul it is made primarily from mahogany but the hollow chambers, TV Jones pickups, and Bigsby make it a different animal. Playing it wise the action is great and its got a nice neck. If your around a shop that sells them stop in and play on one for a moment

Gretsches are odd guitars but they usually sound wicked. Filtertrons are fantastic pickups.

Re: Gretsch Power Jet

I own one, bought it used at a shop sometime in the last couple of months.

It's a monster, and has a bit more bite than other Jets, making it really fun with a muff, or just a touch of overdrive from the amp.

I'll post a pic, because I don't think it's very often that you will see posts about this specific jet. Mine is a Firebird edition, thus the red.
