Ground wire question

I'm putting together a hardtail strat partscaster, and I bought gavitt cloth wire (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KRQP6BK/) to run as a ground wire under the bridge. I assumed that i would be able to fan it out and lay it flat underneath, but it seems like it is a solid wire. I tried twisting it with pliers and hitting it with a soldering iron to try to desolder it (it said pre-tinned), but nothing. Am I missing something? Did i get the wrong wire?

hmmm. good point. i can see how it'll work as a ground but it seems like it raises the bridge somewhat noticeably under one side.

I've seen in hardtails where there is a small channel by the hole under the bridge for the wire to lay in with very little of the end sticking up. Just enough to make solid contact with the bridge and for it to not slide out. You could always make one of those. Take a look at some bare hardtail bodies.

I drilled the hole myself at a bit of an angle and i've been playing around with it. I think you guys might be right, i might've been pushing too much wire under there!

I dremel out a hole in the body under the bridge on my hardtail strats so there's enough room to solder a wire to the bottom of the bridge. It's pretty important to have all ur stuff grounded well.
