Grounding Issues

Hey guys,

I have been having problems with my Les Paul Studio as far as grounding. I thought it may have been bad pickup wiring on my part, but I have the same noise in the other pickup I never touched in the guitar. I have tried about 3 different pickups in the bridge position and the results are the same. It's not a tremendous amount of noise, but enough to bug me. Any suggestions?

Re: Grounding Issues

If it is really minimal I would say not enough shielding. If it is louder I would say you have a bad grounding joint or have your hot and ground swapped.

Re: Grounding Issues

when you wired in your new pickup

there was an unknown wire coming from under the bridge somewhere

that connects to the bridge post under the bridge

that needs to be connected to the ground at your common grounding point
either at the jack or at the volume pot or in the middle of the control cavity
as I don't own a Les Paul and am very unfamiliar with the lay out
you'll have to look at that

but if the bridge ground was loose then it would act as you describe
