Grounding Metal Mounting Rings...

revolution

Anyone have any insight into this venture? The ground wire broke on my 02 Heritage LP, making the metal mounting rings I have even noisier. Curious to know if my experiment will be successful or not. I was thinking of soldering a wire to the neck ring, running it through the cavity to the bridge ring, soldering it there and then to the vol pot ground. Any warnings or experiences? I am going to fix the ground...but I wonder if I need to if I do this other thing. Thanks.

Re: Grounding Metal Mounting Rings...

Your pickup is grounded, there is a metal screw and spring attaching your pickup's base plate to the mounting rings, so your rings are already grounded. Unless you are running pickups with a plastic base like Bill Lawrence or Dimebucker?

I am going to, but the rings still buzz. If I'm gonna keep the metal rings, they will need to ground...but i wondered if this wouldn't solve the ground issue as well. I may just go back to plastic mounting rings.
