Grover Locking Tuners

Does anyone have the Grover Locking tuners? I just put a set of these on my LP and I'm not having much luck putting string on. I think there is something that I am missing. I broke the B & e strings while trying to get the darn things to catch. What's the secret?!?!?

Re: Grover Locking Tuners

you just have to slot the strings in and tune to pitch.

Re: Grover Locking Tuners

Yeah, just stick the string through the peg and tune up, it locks as it turns...

*Edit* If you're having trouble getting the string throught the peg, turn it as if you were going to slacken the string (I think) and it should open up properly.

hmmm... i put the string through, and turn and turn and it doesnt do anything

Re: Grover Locking Tuners

wierd. what i do is slot the string through, pull it taut and tighten. it should lock. what did you do before that causes your strings to break?

Re: Grover Locking Tuners

when the strings popped, i was tightening to pitch and the string just snapped. i wasnt even close to pitch, and there was a tiny bit of tension. it was wierd, i've never had that happen before

Re: Grover Locking Tuners

Did you read the instructions that came with them? You need to turn the post by hand until it clicks, then turn the tuning peg in the loosening direction until the hole is pointing towards 5:00 (imagine the tuning post as the face of a clock.) Thn pull the string as tight as you can and tune. As you turn the peg, the lock in the hole will tighten and grab the string. Tune to pitch, stretch your strings, and you're ready to go.
