Guitar Fetish Quality

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

Depends on what you're buying.

I've had no issues with any of the pickups that I've bought, but some models are considered hit or miss. Same with their hardware.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

Their pickguards are fine. I've bought several of them. Also got some pots and switches. No issues. Put a bridge with steel block on a partsocaster that is not bad. I swapped the saddles out though.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I liked what I got. The pickups are good (depending on which you get)
I got the premium Tele set and a set of retrotrons.
Hardware was good too. Thick stuff and the playing was decent. The pickguards are nice too.... Sometimes holes don't line up on existing gear but as these were for new builds that didn't matter. The material itself is fine same as Mighty Mite and probably the bigger guys. It's a pickguard.... It's a piece of plastic that's meant to get scratched... Why pay more than $20 ever in the history of ever?
I also bought a neck and that thing rocked. Fret ends were smooth, profile was an awesome thick baseball bat style, straight, nice figuring on the rosewood board.

Overall I'm happy with them. All they need to do now is offer a jazzmaster bridge and I'll never have to shop anywhere else.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I got a Strat bridge from them that was made from discarded tin cans. Worse piece of garbage I have ever seen. I also bought a clearance neck and body from them and the quality was so bad that I sent is back and had to battle for a refund. With the store credit they gave me for the body and neck I got a flight case from them that is really nice quality and solid for the price.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

pickups are hit or miss but generally I've had good luck with the parts and what not.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I wouldn't bother buying a body or neck from them as i live in aus, But i did by a import tremolo with a brass block and i am very happy with it.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

yea that factory buy-out and clearance stuff is junk
but some one must want it

I have some pickguards, pots and such from there
its just fine for me

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I really like the "pro-series" '52 Telecaster bridge pickup - it does exactly what I want. I'm also satisfied with their 3-brass saddle ashtray bridge. I thought the Crunchy PAT humbuckers were okay, and the AlNiCo II Vintage-style humbucker was definitely not bad. Their pickups IMO would make great for stock pickups in guitars.

That comment made me snort. The reason most of are here is we end up pulling the stock pickups our guitars. I guess wouldn't feel as bad pulling them if they were GF.

Yeah they could have saved every nice guitar that's been equipped with emg hz pickups from the factory.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

I read that the pickups are made in the same factory as Epiphone pickups. Take from that what you will.
I'm tossing around the idea of buying a zebra VEH and zebra crunchy PAT. Then I'll decide what's better in the bridge position and proceed from there.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

The Mean 90 sounds good. The bare wire in the leads was complete crap however, but still workable. I might have just got a bad one. I would buy pickups from them again if I needed to upgrade someone's beater guitar on the cheap.

Re: Guitar Fetish Quality

IME, Guitar Fetish can be summed up as: a pretty darned cool selection of crap Chinese (or wherever they're made) parts. That is, some of the designs are cool, but the quality of the parts themselves is no better than the stuff you will be replacing on most low-to-mid-line Asian-made guitars. If you want cheap crap for a cheap crap project, go for their stuff. If you want truly quality stuff for a project that deserves truly high quality stuff, go elsewhere.

I like the designs on their pups. The visual designs, I mean. The world needs more pearloid topped soapbar double p90s.
