I would say that Maple is notably brighter than Ebony. Ebony to me is the perfect wood. Has the definition and fast response of maple combined with the sweetness of rosewood
Also, Ebony is very dark, Rosewood is dark and maple is light, colorwise.
This is not the case tonewise, which was the first thing that made me think about wood desities as kid.. A "few" years back
Dang, I accidentally posted this before fisinshing it..
Anyhow, from the fretboards I've tried, I didn't hear a noticable differnce in tone between the three at the first time.. But ebony felt the best for me. Since then, I've found rosewood to be "my thing".. both feel and tone.
