You mean addicts like Steve Lukather? EMG's don't speak to me but they seem to work well for some virtuosos.

In addition to this forum--which I'm not on as much as some others, I am also on My Les Paul--which has already been mentioned.
As well I am on:
-Guitars Canada--I like it for the Canadian angle and the overall tone on the boards.
-Fender Lounge--official Fender site--good info on Fenders, and some fun stuff
-Axe Talk--small but fun--some good stuff there as well

and to a lesser degree Christian Guitar Forum & Ibanez Collectors World

They all have some good points.

This is the only site I actually post on that is to do with guitars (do post on sound production/engineering sites but thats different). I do look at posts on other forums but usually thats a results of using google to find something in particular. I find alot of forums go way off topic from what the OP posted which doesn't happens as much here (although there are some threads that get out of hand but moderators usually clean them up).

I find myself reading on this forum more than any other one. Lots of knowledge and I find the people on this forum to be much friendlier than many on other forums. I have been on TGP a few times but not enough to say the pros and cons of it.

I go to UG quite a bit (though not as much as I used to) and I find the pros to be there are many knowledgable members of the forum, but the cons are most of the members seem to bandwagon around certain gear and they can be very very immature and childish.

Pros: usually good people, can be a wealth of new information and a great support for guitar issues.

Cons: inspires unending gear acquisition syndrome, tends to lead to confusing advice on tone as tone is subjective (i.e., some swear by BKP, or EMGs, or LACE, or DiMarzio .. not any of which I've found pups I like from).

People on talkbass are strange by our standards. They sometimes spend time playing their instruments, and they aren't even ashamed to talk about it. Crazy...

As I'm a huge Kramer nut the KF is my main forum,sorry SD. I love KF for many reasons but there is one huge reason. Zero tolerance for spam and noobs wanting to know "what's this Kramer worth?" I just hate that question.

I enjoy things here,they give me different perspective on instruments and sound. I get to see guitar pron I wouldn't normally get to see.

The ESP forum is cool as long as you are mellow and use the search function. That group definitely know ESP guitars inside and out. Been a huge help identifying guitars for me.

BC Rich forum are a bunch of cool guys. Hard core collectors that really know their stuff too. I just don't frequent it enough to stay a active member(you get deleted if you don't post enough.)

UG forum I frequented and became so annoyed at all the cr*p information about Kramer guitars I had to join. Every few days I'll search "Kramer" and see what pops up and correct any kind if misinformation. I try and monitor vintage ESP stuff there as well. So many fan boy kids there, there is no way I read anything else posted.

main reasons this is my fav site is because it doesnt favor one brand over another when talking guitar or amp and is even very liberal when it comes to talking about other pickups.

Plus the peeps here are cool for the most part. I have established real friendships with some..

yeah... I got a little gay with the Djent myself. But then I started listening to other bands in the genre and finally figured out... Meshuggah does this better without the queer in skinny jeans screaming about his constricted balls in the metaphysical sense.

The nail in the coffin... letting a drummer pal listen to Tesseract "Hey these guys sound like Linkin Park"

It really is silly to base a genre type on a f'ing guitar tone.

When the next revival of Neo-Classical comes along it will be called boodle wittle doOoOoOoO* metal.

*GT's impression of a sweeped pick arpeggio with vibrato at the end.

This forum and My Les Paul are good resources. Both have been very important to my learning a lot of stuff and getting new ideas.

For hardcore info I use the Tom Anderson and John Suhr forums. You can address John and Tom directly and they answer the questions. It is like having to incredibly experienced megatechs/luthiers available.

I have never liked TGP or Harmony Central. I dont remember the last time I was on either.

This is the only forum that I post on. Even though I play ESP, their forum page is just horrible. I tried it and after a few weeks, I asked to have my account deleted .
They're nothing but mostly teenagers on there who have no respect for anybody and the moderator allows profanity to be used on there.

Agreed. I briefly posted there (I own an ESP Eclipse) but the place is so juvenile and rude it's just unreal. It's also very clique-ish with a clear social hierarchy. And many of the posters there don't even really seem to play/own much in the way of ESP guitars, they're just there largely because they're so caught up in their little social world there. The equipment board is the only place I still check out (without posting) to see some of the ridiculously awesome rigs people have.

This forum is far more civil and mature. Far less trafficked perhaps but it's still a far more pleasant alternative to the ESP boards.

I don't really check out any other forums.

The only forum I post in is this one, and I lurk the telecaster forums sometimes. Those are the only two forums I like.

I HATE Ultimate-Guitar.com. It is mostly kids who talk crap, aren't respectful to anyone, no one is kind/friendly, not helpful at all. I only visit the site to read the news and reviews now. No pros really. Everyone just argues 24/7.

I dislike Harmony Central for the same reasons, but more elitists.
