Re: Guitar Mods & Repairs - Not For The Faint Of Heart
Ok, the Mission Control Les Paul, the bass with the light switches, and the acoustic with the epoxied bridge are the best. Love that PRS Reb Beach hack, too.
Though I gotta say, I'd have done the bass stereo with a couple of wall sockets for outputs, and a special Y-cable that had 3-prong plugs, just to make it even more Homeless Depot.
These are the specific ones I was going to comment on, so Ill just lift your post.. Thanks.. haha
on the accoustic with the 40lbs of glue... OMG....
Who would cut up a $2000 prs like that?? I cant afford one, let alone afford to butcher one.. Im wondering if the photo was taken buy a tech who had it and the cut out to try to put it back together??
The lp with the multitude of diff pickups.. First, how can you ever remember what control knob does what?? Second, I wonder if it actually achieves the tones of the p90s and so on? Third, didnt really bother me cuz its left handed anyhow.. hahahahahaah
The bass with the light switches... Ive seen that before. And was like, wow... just wow.... I am curious to know if any of it actually works?? would a light switch work with guitar wiring??
another comment, the classical with the pups and bar.. The pickups... maybe.. The bar appears just visual as I dont see how the bridge can tilt. Strangely, I can almost relate to that one tho.. When I was a kid and wanted to learn, I was a HUGE Kiss fan, but my folks wouldnt get me an electric, only a crappy rented accoustic.. So, hey lets add pickups!!! sound hole and huge body could pack enough explosives to take out a city.. not just a smokey effect...
positive notes:
The epoxied bridge and headstock repair... Maybe this is the only gear the person could afford, dont live near or cant afford a qualified repair person, but they love to play and tried to make em work regardless. If thats the case, kudos! my first accoustic's bridge started to pull of the body...
On the bass with switches.. When he goes to take his solo, he can dim the house lights and turn on the spotlight if their is no soundman avail..
