Guitar Patch Cables...

Re: Guitar Patch Cables...

I remember when I first was looking around for good patch cables. I read a lot of good and bad review of the George L's. For some reason I decided to try them. I found that if you were careful, you could get good connections and they worked fine. I actually wrote a review of them and rebuked all those that wrote bad reviews.

Well several years later and I find that they do in fact lose their ground connection with time, corrosion, and movement (yes, even on a pedalboard there is movement of the cables). Everytime I step on a box that still is connected with George L's, I hear that annoying loss-of-ground scratchy noise.

I've replaced most of my Gearge L's...time to get the rest of them off my board.

Best ones are the ones I make myself with good Neutrik plugs.

I've had some George L's, since the late '90s. I've never had an issue. Maybe I've just been lucky?

Re: Guitar Patch Cables...

I use those straight pedal coupler things... Never had a problem with them and super reliable. I don't notice any tone suckage...

When a cable is needed, I use Dimarzio patch cables. Any long cables are Spectraflex.

Guitar Doc, I had the same experience with George L's too. Problem is, it takes forever to track down the buzz noise to 1 faulty cable.

I found that true with George L's also so im trying to sell them with no luck! ha! Mogami's are great, pricey but as good or better with a little more low end.
