Guitar Pickups Grounding Issue

So I put together a guitar with a Stag Mag neck, and a JB Bridge, both with triple shots. I wired it following the diagram. However, the diagram did not say to ground it to the bridge. The triple shots have a spot to ground to. But my issue is that unlike other guitars, when I touch the strings or bridge, the amp buzz does not go away. So I think it should have been grounded to the bridge even though the diagram said not to. Any advice?

Yes, unless you have complete shielding otherwise you need to use yourself as a shield, via grounded strings.

OK thanks that makes sense. But heres the only issue. I wired it to this diagram.

It doesn't say there to ground the the bridge, but I know I should. So what should I do? Should I add a wire from the volume pot to the bridge?
Also my guitar is copper shielded, so could I just add a new wire from the volume pot to the copper shielding?

Yes, you should ground your bridge. A wire from the bridge to the back of the vol pot will do.

The wiring diagrams don't always show everything. It is usually understood that everything gets grounded and there is no need to muck up the diagram with too many wires.

Your copper shielding is useless if it's not grounded, so yes on the latter part.

If your shielding is complete (goes around all the hot wires, no exceptions) then you don't need the bridge ground. This is easy to test, if it buzzed and it stops when you touch the output plug you need more shielding or the grounded bridge.

Re: Guitar Pickups Grounding Issue

Unless there is some sort of insert under the pots, then it's a good chance they are contacting the copper and will be grounded. A simple continuity tester could tell you that by testing the shielding to one of the pots. The wiring diagram just leaves out the ground connection to the bridge. That should be soldered to the back of one of the pots.

Re: Guitar Pickups Grounding Issue

So I am going to put one end of a wire under the bridge then screw it down. Then where should I put the other end? Does it matter if it gets soldered to the volume pot or tone pot? And should it touch the other connections already on the back of the pot?

Re: Guitar Pickups Grounding Issue

Doesn't matter where you solder it. No, it doesn't have to "touch" the other wires/connections...it is making an electrical connection.
