Re: ...Guitarography!!!

1st: Charvel model 1a. Been through more pickups than strings, I won't sell that one.
2nd: Charvel model 1a. I bought it and the neck had a lose truss rod...so I had to get a new neck. yay. Still not in playing order...<_< I'll sell her once I get her 100% functional.
3rd: my baby, The One, the messiah of guitars... my Kramer Stagemaster. Same year as me. I just love this guitar. I'll never sell it.

So I still have my 3 electrics.

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

From the start
3/4 sized classical (can't remember the make) which I got for my ninth Bithday. Gave that to my brother in law.
Satelite LP copy which I bought when I was 13, it was rubbish but improved with some actual humbuckers in it. Lent that to some one when I didn't really need it any more and never saw it again.
Hondo LP copy which I got as it was better than the Satelite, that got chopped in to buy....
Ibanez Destroyer II in candy apple red, just like Adrian Smith used to use.
Not actually that great a guitar in many ways. Was fitted with Dimarzio's which I always found a bit thin sounding. I think I loved the way it lookedover the way it played, sounded. part exed it in for a third of what they now sell on ebay to get.....
Charvel SP3, with strange active electronics, single coils and a reverse headstock. Looked the same as the Jackson's Jeff Beck used in the mid eighties. It was the only guitar I've had so far that had a locking trem, I miss this guitar as it was actually quite good and looked kinda quirky. Had to sell it to pay the rent.
Twelve string acoustic (unknown make), this was kinda fun to have around, not sure why I sold it really.
Ibanez Roadstar series II bass in purple. This was my favourite instrument for many a year, I ripped the frets out in about 1990 and loved it to bits. Sold it the other year as I just never played it and an instrument gathering dust is a waste.
J&D brothers fretted bass. Played great, sounded a bit thin, looked good, stopped playing bass, sold it.
Ibanez SA 260 FM (now hot rodded with SD's). This is my favourite guitar atm. Saw it in a shop in bristol and my girlfreind bought it for me as she thought it was too pretty to stay there. It's an on going project and I don't think I'll ever stopped tinkering with it. Next big job will be doing something with the neck (possibly replacing it).
Tokai Explorer, in Gold. I love this guitar for other reasons, it's a bit of a slab, the neck is a bit too chunky for my little hands, the fretboard is also a bit wide but it sounds great and just looks so over the top I needed it.
I also have a Hohner acoustic, which is old and battered, and a Mandolin.
Hmm, that's over ten, maybe I should have counted up before doing the poll :)

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

1. Satelite L.P Custom copy..... 1st guitar, sounded and played awful, but I played it 'til it fell apart!
2. Vantage L.P Std copy..... great guitar, set neck .. Can't remember why it went?
3. Gun shaped guitar! ... I think it's still in the loft.
4. Washburn Hawk ... Sold it to a mate 'coz he liked it more than I did.
5. Blade Strat type... couldn't get on with it once I got it home.
6. Ibanez ??? ... I just remember that it was a neck through body, VERY solid and VERY heavy... but it seemed very big, almost like a bass
7. Ibanez AR250 with trem... great but I wanted the AR300 so I part ex'd it
8. Ibanez AR300.... my favorite guitar. Don't want to go into why I sold it 'coz I'll probably end up beating someone up!!
9. Ibanez Roadster or Roadstar (can't remember)... Bought on a whim, swapped for a keyboard.

This ended my playing for a number of years..... then...

10. Yamaha YSG (supposedly designed by a certain Mr. Paul Reed Smith!)... I kept it for years and fitted a couple of S.D '59's.. but one of my mates REALLY loved this guitar so I sold it to him.. he's still got it and it's still superb!
11. Fender Strat '79 Blonde/ Black... A local guitar collector ripped me off.. don't really want to go into this either or someone else may get beat up!!
12. Yamaha SG3000's... sold it 'coz I got 2, but this was the best playing guitar I've ever played.
13. STILL GOT. Yamaha SG3000s... seriel number 0001. Still got this one, though I'm giving it away soon... to my son for his 16th Birthday in October.
14. Fender Jeff Beck Strat. Even though I had the BIG neck shaved down, I couldn't gel with this one!
15. STILL GOT. G&L ASAT classic in blonde. Still got it and I love it.
16. Fender Strat USA Deluxe... I just don't get on with Fender Strats???? So it went.
17. Gibson Les Paul '59 R.I Handbuilt by a certain Mr. T. Murphy for the '92 NAMM show. Just too beautiful to play and use like it should have been, a couple more reasons which are dear to my heart, so I had to let this one go. It was number 008 of 10 that was built to launch the Historic series and it was awesome. Sold with full Gibson certificates and authenticity. (This is where I cry!!)
18. STILL GOT. Gibson '96 Jimmy Page ... all the gold and wiring removed, changed to more of a '59 spec. This guitar gets a beating and looks much much older, recently treated to a Brobucker and PGn (my thanks to GJ for this recommendation) along with a RSGuitarworks vintage rewire kit.. this one now sounds as good as it looks.
19. STILL GOT. Gibson D.C Pro Custom Shop with P90's. Still got it and it's great. Very resonant, very light... even more beautiful.
20. STILL GOT. Peavey Wolfgang U.S.A in Purple (pre pat) Still got this one, so easy... infact, TOO easy to play.
21. Peavey Wolfgang U.S.A in Cherryburst. Gorgeous guitar but let this one go 'coz the build is so consistant it sounded exactly the same as the other one! Also it was mint, I sold it to someone who couldn't afford to pay the going rate and helped him to get his first great guitar at beginners guitar price.
22. STILL GOT. Gibson L.P '57 R.I Custom. This is my favorite guitar and is just stock, very beat up!
23. G&L Legacy Std in Pearl White... Great guitar, an early one. Sold to the guy who had the Yamaha YSG.
24. STILL GOT. G&L Legacy STD in Blonde.... Fantastic Guitar... won't ever sell this one.
25. G&L Legacy Special in Natural ... Sold to my nephew for a real steal for 16th birthday.
26. STILL GOT. G&L Legacy Special in Blue burst. Still got this one, it's got a BIG FAT NECK like the '57 Custom... and sounds even bigger than the R.I '57 too.
27. STILL GOT. Gibson Explorer Studio in Azure Blue with mini buckers and Alder body. This ones gonna be for my youngest son.
28. STILL GOT. Yamaha CPX15EA Electro. Great open sound when acoustic, superb build quality.
29. STILL GOT. Sandberg Basic 4 bass. Excellent guitar, I won't need another bass.

I know I have missed some but just can't remember... old age is setting in!!

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

Hmm thats a tough one..

I started on a Epiphone G310 SG.. Had it for 5 months, then I sold it to get a Epiphone Les Paul Standard... Then it was my Charvel. Then the LP went for my first Strat, the surf green one.. Then I sold that and got my MIM Standard, and now i have my HWY1 Bastardocaster.

I also have a acoustic so its 7 guitars for me, while I still have 3 of them :)

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

I'm not sure how many I have. Has to be less than 20. I have some that're taken apart. One parts Tele that's in pieces waiting for me to finish converting it into a Fat Tele. But I think I'm gonna put together a spare parts double humbucker Tele first.

My Spare Parts Tele will be about like this, but I'm not so sure about this pickguard. It sort of makes my teeth hurt looking at it. I think I have a W/B/W one somewhere. Not sure what to use for pickups, but I do have a couple spare Super Distortions.

Pete

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

Hey another person who started on one of those things, mine was a sunburst custom, until I painted a silver surfer on it :)

Ha ha.. perhaps it's a U.K thing... catalogue guitars... Lol. Mine was Black, and the paint was so thick you could see how many layers of PLY the body was!!! Ha ha ha... the neck kept falling off, so I kept shoving match sticks in the holes and re-fitting it.. In retrospect I should have used the matches to set fire to it once I got the Vantage.. now that was a GOOD quality guitar... I wish I could remember what happened to it??????

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

I know I had to glue some of the inlays back into the finger board on mine.
I took the pickups apart and to find that they were, in fact, two single coils, so I cobbled them together into a humbucker, which almost worked :)

Ah, happy days.

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

Can't even remember all of the guitars I've had, but I know I've kept the vast majority. Can't seem to give 'em up, even the crappy ones.

Re: ...Guitarography!!!

1) Epiphone LP Special II -first guitar, owned it for about two years before the headstock got taken of it by some fat dope falling on me at a gig. Nothing like the feeling of reaching for the next chord only to find the headstock dangling round me knees.

2) Fender MIM Strat, customised, painted, repainted, bastardised, taken apart, put back together i dont know how many times, thrown, jumped on, fallen out the van on the motorway, but still plays and sounds the tits. This one will be with me forever.

3)Epiphone LP classic plus from 1997 I think. Thats my heavy rocking workhorse.

4) Peavey Wolfgang Special (Korea) Great guitar, but I sold it to pay for some uni bills. Miss it a lot, played and sounded great. For some stupid I want a floyd back too.
