This one here is the one... i only switched the Single Coil for an SSL-1. Didn't have to be, the ESP one is good, it was just weird for me, if the Humbucker has more top end shimmer than the Single Coil. That's why i changed it.
But that guitar is perfect. Played some Kamikazes before, but that feels and sounds better than any guitar i ever played or owned before, of course which is subjective, too.
If i could, i would clone that one like 20 times

I LOVE the lynch line with ESP......the only thing that put me off of this guitar is there is no pickup switch/toggle. I just think it would be too hard to yank up on the volume knob mid song or mid solo to switch to the neck

Of the guitars that I've kept for any period of time, the only ones that remained untouched were two acoustics: an Ovation (minus the Sperzel locking tuners), and a Recording King. Every other guitar, including my beloved SG have all been worked on. As it's mentioned, it's a damn compulsion.

I just got this LP a couple weeks ago. It was stock with the Floyd and Super 57 pickups. Other than Schaller straplocks, I can't imagine upgrading a thing on this guitar (and I'm a tinkerer!).

I just got this LP a couple weeks ago. It was stock with the Floyd and Super 57 pickups. Other than Schaller straplocks, I can't imagine upgrading a thing on this guitar (and I'm a tinkerer!).

I've never really understood the mentaility of buying a new guitar - especially a more expensive - with the intention of modding it.

I've recently bought a G&L Fallout (tribute series). It ticked all the boxes for me; I can't imagine needing to do anything to it.

Never found one absolutely perfect. Usually requires a pickup change or electronics change at least, mostly because of the way I use the volume and tone controls. I think I got used to the guitar having to adapt to me, and not the other way around.

Of the ones I own, My Gretsch 5120 is bone stock, and I love my Gibson Tradional Pro II 60's neck in Merlot finish, I have considered replacing the pickups on numerous occasions but can't justify changing them with how good it sounds stock.
Of the guitars I'm Gassing for only one I know would stay original and that's a Fender USA Deluxe Telecaster, it's one of the most beautiful sounding and playing guitars I've ever put my hands on, or at least that particular one was.

I have this without the floyd, wiSh I had one with it too.
I love that Super 57 it does as advertised, ie fixing all of the issues I've had with the 57 Classic +, like the thinness/shrill sound some have experienced

I had a 57 neck and 57+ set in my LP Custom for a while back in the 90s. The neck pickup was bliss but I was never satisfied with the bridge, and tried a bunch of different pickups before settling on the Duncan Custom 5 (now that guitar has Fralins).

But yeah, I'm really digging the Super 57! There isn't a lot of info about it on the Web, so it's shrouded in mystery and mojo. For this guitar, it's just right and it blends beautifully with the 57 Classic in the neck.

And I kind of wish I could justify a non-Floyd version now too! LOL The Merlot Red one is very sexxxy!

When I was a kid, I used to think I could find one I'd just use. Now I know better. I like to personalize mine. They're like Harleys in that there is always some thing that does this or that to add...

A bunch. MM Armada, Heritage H-150, (6) Fender American Select, (10) Fender American Vintage, (10) Fender American Vintage Hot Rod, a ST. Louis County Board of Education 1967 Teisco, a Larrivee electric, some Gretsch and Guild 61XX series, Taylor T3/B, Taylor T5-S, (2) Taylor T5z, (8) Taylor Solid Body, including one in solid Burl Walnut, and my (11) Music Man SUB-1 guitars. Most of the rest I swap pickups, add push-pull or concentric pots, maybe change tuners, replace nuts, the usual stuff.

You can buy any expensive guitar and get pickups you don't find good - I don't believe any guarantee covers liking of pickups!!

Three guitars so far:

2013 Gibson ES-330 TD Memphis 1959 RI (used)
2013 PRS SE One Korina (new)
2008 PRS McCarty Korina (used)

I haven't changed anything in these and have no plans. I didn't like the stock pickups in the McCarty until I lowered them as much as I could do. I wouldn't mind a treble bleed also but so far it's stock.

Pulled apart for a bad solder joint on the internal transformer thing and put it all back together. I haven't done a damned thing to this but remove the pickguard and lose the trc after a tr adjustment.

Wait: I did put Dunlop Strap Locks on it. I don't know if that matters or not. I just know I don't want to drop it.

I should have left my Ibanez alone. The stock neck pickup is great actually but I wanted something a bit more vintage.
A new nut is all it needed. I still can't get the bridge pickup quite right but it's good.
