Gus G vs Dave Mustaine vs Jeff loomis. Which actives?

Only played the Loomis neck and loved it, can’t say for the other, what’s the specs of guitar, what do you want from them and what’s the rest of your rig?

The guitar will be a mahogany body/neck, with a rosewood board. The amp will be a 5150 lll. I like good treble and high mids which sounds like the Dave ones, but the Gus G clips sound great. Is it based on the Distortion he use to play?

From what you’re saying the loomis May be a little too smooth for what you’re looking For, out of the other two I’d guess the mustaines,

I have the Mustaines and yeah they're great. More top end than most which I like. Retains tightness too. the Gus G Fire set is great as well. Very impressive. I'd say that and the Mustaine set are more similar than the Loomis. No experience with his set unfortunately. 5150 III may like a smoother pickup with that much gain and aggression its' known for so if the Loomis' set really is as smooth as 6stringerguy says then that may the one for your setup.

I like snap and brightness in my tone so does Loomis however he uses a swamp ash and maple guitar (inherently bright) with a Floyd (reducing low end) so the reduced high end means it isn’t too harsh however with an all mahogany guitar you may want that extra bite, so I’d guess mustaines if you want that bite and grit.
The guitar I have them in is ash maple and walnut with ebony.

I’ve only tried/owned the mustaines. I absolutely LOVE them, and this is coming from someone who hated the emg707s in a guitar he used to own.

Thanks guys. If I get this guitar, the Mustaine is what I'll try first.
