You can't be hardcore with a strat. Go buy a lefty Paul! LOL

Lewguitar said:I've played a number of PRS guitars and owned a beautiful CE24 for a couple of years. I sold it because every other guitar I have, including a $180. 80's MIJ Squire Strat with a single 59TB humbucker sounded and played better than the PRS. But it sure was pretty! Lew

As others have said, they´re not everyone´s cup of tea. I prefer coffee. I always felt I was entering a "compromise" situation playing the Mc. Something always seemed to be missing to me
It all depends on what you want from a guitar. If you "need" classic LP or Strat tone, then you need an LP or a strat. If you "need" a shredder neck, you need a Jackson. But if a guitar that can bridge most of the gaps halfway decently does fine, and you want sumpthin´ purdy....![]()

I never cared for the styling of those things. I like the classic looks of guitars like LPs, SGs and Strats.

rspst14 said:John, have you ever tried a Hamer? I think they make some of the finest guitars money can buy. I bet you'd like a used $600 Hamer Studio better than anything costing over $2000. Those Hollowbody PRS's are nice, but I couldn't justify buying one when I could pick up a Hamer Newport for half the price. Same thing with the McCarty models. They're beautiful, but I don't think they play or sound any better than the Hamer models that cost half as much. Of course, Gibson and PRS guitars will always hold their value better than other brands, and that will factor into a lot of people's decisions.
