H-S-H guitar: what pickups

What would you guys recommend for what should be my favourite guitar (alder strat, rosewood fingerboard, floyd)

-Hot bridge humbucker for hard rock & metal, mostly old school
-Single coil in the middle which sounds like a strat pickup, don't care if it's noiseless or not
-Neck humbucker for creamy leads and jazzy cleans

I want also:

-5-way switch with strat quack in positions 2 & 4 (auto-split)
-Not too much of a volume difference between humbuckers and single coil

Recommendations?

JB, SSL-1, '59n.

That's my opinion for what it's worth.

Good configuration. That was what i'd write.

Just to be different to JB, SSL-1, '59n config.

"Custom Custom" or "Parallel Axis Trembucker" (B)
SSL1 (m)
"A2P" or "PG" (PG will be bridge model with reversed magnet if CC is chosen for bridge)

Re: H-S-H guitar: what pickups

JB or custom custom or custom 5 in bridge (depending on taste) ... hot stack plus middle (lowered to maximise quack in 2 & 4 yet retain enough volume to taste) ... alnico2 pro neck

What amp?

Doesn't really matter, but post-90's Marshalls.

So you guys think the quack will come out really well with those combos?

What about Super distortion (bridge) - single coil - hot rails/chopper (neck)?

I thought it was HSH you were looking for? as in full-size neck bucker?

Re: H-S-H guitar: what pickups

I think he was trying to avert a "my amp can kick your amp's ass" argument.

Anyway, it's going to be difficult to find a single coil that's volume-matched to a high-output bridge pickup. At least if you want it crystal clean.

Re: H-S-H guitar: what pickups

I'm going with the
Carvin S22J in the neck
Fender Vintage Noiseless Bridge PU in the middle
and Carvin S22B in the Bridge for my next upgrade
on my RG4

thinking standard strat swtiching

neck
neck/middle
middle
bridge/middle
bridge

with a push/push for coil splitting

or

neck
neck/middle
neck/bridge
bridge/middle
bridge

with a push/push for coil splitting

Re: H-S-H guitar: what pickups

For that guitar through a Marshall (I'm assuming JCM series), I'd go with a Custom in the bridge, a Hot Stack in the mid, and a Pearly Gates in the neck. Use push/pulls to go from series to parallel on the neck and bridge, and you should have a versatile axe that has more than enough guts and punch for some pretty heavy music.

Re: H-S-H guitar: what pickups

You know what you want.

Super D/Fender single/PAF.

You know it.

oh yea

thats the flavor I was hinting at

yea

'cept he's gonna need something stacked to match the humbuckers output

Vintage noiseless should be in the middle

c'mon we all know it

Dave Murray didn't know it, and he's in the guy's avatar! ;)
