Hagstrum nightmare Please help

I still have this Hagstrum Swede on the bench, here's my problem. According to the diagram the tone switch is a 7 lug 3 way toggle which has 2 caps 4700pf (across lug 4 to lu 7) and 0.015uf (across lug 4 to lug 1). However!!! The original switch that is in the guitar (I looked it up and it is the correct hagstrum style switch) only has 6 lugs and unfortunately the caps have all been removed which is why the owner came to me to try to rewire it. So my question is for advice on how to wire the 2 cap's on the 6 lug's instead of the original 7. and which lugs are wired to "tip" and to lug's 2&4 of the 3 way pup selector switch. Been at this a while please offer some advice.Diagram.jpg

Can you get a shot of the switch you have in place?

Here are some better pics, first a full view of the schematic and a better close up, and some views of the switch that is in the guitar. I might be posting them in separate posts.Hag 1.jpg Please note the leads labeled "yellow" are all ground's.

Hmmm... tricky to see, but I think the main casing for the switch (in the middle) may be used as lug 4 in the schematic - on other switches where this happens (like a typical LP) it would have a little eyelet to solder to. I can’t see that from these pictures = it may be at the other end from the tabs?

Or, possibly, where that corrosion is was originally a solder point?

I recently worked on a 72 Telecaster Custom, where the ground was soldered direct to the case like this (no lug)

If that were the case, I *think* the tabs of 3 and 5 are at different sides of the switch, not on the same side as shown in the schematic.

Yes lug 4 is ground and it is the one you pointed out in the photos, in fact ohm test shows continuity from that lug to chassis of the switch. The corrosion is not that but someone had glued the switch in to hold it in place, lucky it was so old it just came out with no damage. So in pic 3 the center lug is ground lets call it lug 4, the 2 lugs on either side of it are the 2 (Im going to call them sweeper arms) that are pushed side to side when they are "toggled", Im thinking those are lugs 3&5 "output to the tip". Now here is where I get stuck not having a lug 7.... Where to connect the white wire from the 3 way pickup selector switch, and how to wire in the caps 4700pf and 0.015uf, one side to ground and the other side to.....????

I tried this and the guitar works, except I do not hear any change using the tone switch. I did this with no strings on the guitar and just gently "tapped" the pickups with a mini screwdriver. Here is how I wired it: Looking at photo #4 lugs are #'s 1,2 and 3, Looking at photo #3 are lugs 4,5 & 6.... Lug 4 is ground, lugs 5&6 are jumper-ed together and soldered to "tip". Lug 2 is wired to the pup 3 way lug's 2&4 photo #1. I jumper-ed the tone switch lug's 1,2 and 3 together so with the switch in down position it should be using the 0.015uf filter, center position should be using both 0.015uf and the 4700pf filters and in the up position it should be just the 4700pf filter. I hope I got it all right, but Im thinking with it this way there is no position for no filters at all...... Lord I wish the owner would let me replace the switch with the 7 lug switch.

This did not work, I will keep trying different wiring, hit & miss

If you do sort this out, post the results so it can help more people.
