Hamer Californian (Korea) Pickup Suggestion

Hey all! I trust all are well on the board.

I recently acquired a Hamer Californian (Korean made). I purchased if off of eBay on a whim and got it yesterday. I have fallen in love with it (which is a nice surprised since I read some rather questionable things about this axe).

Anywho, the pickups on this axe are "Duncan Designed". I love the bridge pickup but the neck pickup leaves much to be desired. That said, I'm shopping for a new neck pickup.

Does anyone out there have a californian (or other single/humbuck config guitar) and can you share with me your thoughts on Seymour pickups for the neck? The biggest thing that I want to do is get rid of the god awful hum. Other than that...I'm quite open to suggestions, thoughts, ideas, etc.

Thanks in advance to all!

Peace!

Tom

Hum on a Duncan designed? I thought those things were designed to the same standards of the regular line.

I'll let some one falimilar with your guitar chime in but welcome to the forum.

What sound are you looking for in the neck position.

Re: Hamer Californian (Korea) Pickup Suggestion

Nothing tinny by any means. Something full, and clean.
Influences (if this may help) include;

Steve Lukather
Neil Zaza
Vernon Reid
Gary Moore
Paul Gilbert
Pat Metheny

Keep those cards & letters coming!

If your humming, Im guessing you have a bad ground connection, fix that first, you may like the pups

Re: Hamer Californian (Korea) Pickup Suggestion

I assume you're humming because it's a neck single coil, right?

If so, I'd say get a Cool Rails. It will get rid of the hum and thicken up the sound at the same time.
