Hamer Slammer

This has caught my eye and can be had for about the same money as a Squier Affinity Strat in a shop sale at the weekend.

Spec is * Double Cutaway * Solid Mahogany Body * Chrome Tunamatic Bridge * Set Mahogany Neck * East Indian Rosewood Fingerboard *Aztec Gold * Seymour Duncans

Are they any good as a cheap project?

Duncan designed if you look closely.

Don't know how much they go for but if you can try one and it feels ok why not?

Cheap guitars are not always bad guitars, but I'd rather play them before, this could be a real nice piece or a waste of your money, how little it can be.

It cheap because 1) its secondhand 2) hamer are not that bigger brand in the UK so its not as easy to sell 3) they're having a mega sale.

I tend to be a sucker for a cheap unusual guitar, I love Japanese Squiers and Yamaha SG's with set necks. So thi one looked like it could be a good donor for a set of Phat Cats or double cream humbuckers.

Hamer Slammer Series guitars are the better of the Hamer import lines. Not to be confused with the SLAMMER by Hamer guitars those are Really low price Indonesian made guitars. Differant beast than the one you have posted. The Korean made Hamers are real nice. I have a Flat top Sunburst in this series. Buy that if it is decent priced. Usually the Goldtop Hamer Imports tend to be P90 guitars. That is one of few with HBs I have seen. If you put a 59/JB in that, WOW!!! :13:

Really? I always thought that the slammer were below the STQxxx whatever imports from Korea... I had no idea that the slammers were higher... Good to know

Hamer Slammer Series was the initial import line name those are Korean made. Then came the SLAMMER by Hamer thing. The Hamer XT line is the newest name. They are Chinese made guitars. Lot of great guitars are coming in from China. The Hamer XT Korina Standards are a decent guitar in this newest line.

Thanks for clarifying, I didn't know there was a difference between Hamer Slammer Series and Slammer by Hamer.
