The reason I have all these guitars is casue I'm a tonewood and a pickup junkie. I have lots of different types pf pickups in these guitars I have many more sets of pickups needing a guitar to put in. Also, teh woods here are Ash, Walnut , Mahogany and Alder. Maybe one day I'll try a expensive quality Basswood, but cheap Basswood is crap.

Re: Happy Family Time!

Nice Family.... :) That Walnut strat and the African Mahogany start look gorgeous. I like the WWII fighter finish .

Re: Happy Family Time!

Wowzers, that's quite a lot of sticks!
That red metallic Jackson looks like a Soloist XL. If that's the case, it's supposed to have body wings made of poplar. I read that on the internet, so can't be wrong. The walnut strat just screams Reb Beach to me. :bigthumb:

One of the things with cheap basswood is that a lot of times it won't even be basswood under the paint. I stripped down a BC Rich that was supposed to be basswood and it's probably Nato. (It was darker and soaked up stain like a sponge. Basswood is supposed to be lighter and tighter.) I think if you go off the regular brands and find a basswood guitar in the $500 range you'll find something worth playing.

Re: Happy Family Time!

Nice! ...especially that Soloist, walnut Warmoth, Kelly & the WWII aircraft-style mutt.

Re: Happy Family Time!

I tried to do a family shot once, but could only get in 15 or 20 of my most loved guitars. Had to leave out a dozen.
