Happy New (used) Cab Day . . . to me !

Re: Happy New (used) Cab Day . . . to me !

Double score. Nice.

Those old 55hz, are.what the g12H are based on. The old bass cabs used them as Neils mentioned , and alot of guys like Hendrix used the bass cabs instead of the guitar cabs because of those speakers.

Thanks Jeff.

All i now need is a 2nd head, to make it a (((stereo))) rig.

As someone who owns the same amp as yourself and likes very similar music - pull that V30 the hell out of there. You will be so happy you did it. I have a C. Rex+Texas Heat combo right now, and I'd recommend the Texas Heat to replace that V30. Seriously, it will sound SO MUCH BETTER.

Thanx . . . i think i will have to give that a try.
I trust you on your judgement, so i will give that a go.
What does the Texas Heat bring to the party ?

i.e how does the TH differ from the V30 ?

Re: Happy New (used) Cab Day . . . to me !

I am looking forward to saving up $$ and switching my v30s out of my Orange 212PPC and putting in Eminence Lil' Texas to save 15 pounds of weight

So I am interested in the results here too :)

15 pounds? Holy hell, how much do V30s weigh????

I forget - I think 12 pounds, but I googled it up and they weigh 7.5 pounds more than said speaker ;)

basically I want to save 15 pounds since it is exponential pressure on your spine when it is that bulky, and I have to climb to the second floor to get in my apartment... so ya I WILL do it, saving up $$ and just wondering what neodymium speaker to get :)

Re: Happy New (used) Cab Day . . . to me !

Holy hell... SOOO crossing V30s off my options list for when I eventually chuck them G75T's or whatever the stock "Ipswich, China" crap is called. Nothing personal, but the LAST thing any 4x12 needs is 30 more pounds.

...well, that's assuming I don't keep growing fonder and fonder of the dang things, but not as a guitar cab oh no - I surprisingly found that thing to be quite niiiice pairing to a 1x15" cab for bass, of all things (stacked over the 4x12). Opposites attract and all that.

Vintage 30's - http://celestion.com/product/1/vintage_30/ - only 10.4lbs each

If you want a light weight speaker, then do not look into these tone monsters :

http://www.eminence.com/speakers/speaker-detail/?model=Commonwealth_12 - 21.5lbs (full stack - ouch !)

http://www.electrovoice.com/product.php?id=308 - 18.9lbs

Re: Happy New (used) Cab Day . . . to me !

oops! the eminence lil texas speakers weigh 4.1 pounds. so I am saving only 12 pounds of weight since I have a 212PPC orange cab.

maybe I will wait on this purchase, for some reason it seems harder to justify when its only 12 pounds savings and would cost hundreds of dollars and I would rather have a second 212PPC cab

sigh...
