Hardwire phase reverse with coil split?

I have a Bourne 500K push/pull pot that I can use for phase reverse or coil split. The middle switch position (both pickups) tone is muddy and useless so with only one potentiometer in the guitar, can I hardwire them out of phase for the middle position and still use the push/pull to split to the screw coils? What would the schematic for this look like?

Thanks.

The same as a split with them in phase.

Flip one magnet and you're done.

Re: Hardwire phase reverse with coil split?

Pretty sure you will not be able to get what you want with one push pull unless you are happy having the cut coils OOP as well ...Are you adverse to putting a 0n -off- on mini switch on the guitar ? This could be wired to give you the option of cutting to either the screw or slug coils and the push pull would give you the out of phase. As an alternative some people prefer to cut to the inner coils in one position and to the inner bridge and outer neck in the other. This gives a 3rd virtual humbucker.

If you do not want to have the additional switch and are not happy flipping magnets ..many are not... and you have no objection to the coil cuts being OOP when on together, the re wire is relatively simple.

Reverse the hot and ground on the neck (or bridge) to get OOP. Rewire the push pull so that instead of the white and red (on the pick up whose wires you have reversed) going to ground it connects to the new hot (which would have been the old circuit ground). I hope that makes sense.

That would be fine. More than likely when the coils are split, I would have the neck OR bridge pickup on anyway, so phase would be a non-issue.

It would help immensely if someone could sketch this out.

Re: Hardwire phase reverse with coil split?

Does this help? It explains cutting to to outer coils (option 1) and cutting to inner coils (option 2).
One side of Push Pull cuts the Bridge pup, the other side the neck. The red and white wires going to the middle lug and the top lug being wired either to ground or the hot wire on the 3 way as appropriate

The second pick shows cutting to inner coils so one side would need to be changed

For simplicity ,you might want to try the push pull as is after swapping hot and circuit ground on neck pup. Not sure you will notice that much difference between cutting to the inner or outer coil on the 59. As I said before some people actually prefer splitting to outer coil of the neck and inner coil of the bridge.

Combined they will be a humbucker OOP which may (or may not) be a usable sound.
