Re: Harmonic design classic humbuckers?
I have a set of the Harmonic Design Classic Humbuckers. I think they are wonderful and have a great tone. They remind me of something that Larry Carlton would like alot...very classy and sophisticated. They'd be excellant in a semi-hollowbody.
I like the regular Fralin humbuckers alot. I used a 8K/9K and 7.5K/9.5K set and thought they were superb. A little to detailed for some players...they use an alnico 4 magnet and Lindy, being a Strat player, likes his humbuckers to have great note separation and detail. So they are very ballsy but can be a bit bright and a little to crisp for some players.
I have tried all of the Unbucker models and I prefer Lindy's stock HB's over the Unbuckers. The Unbuckers sound clear in the mids lack the smokey, warm full mids that I prefer from a humbucker. The goal of the Unbuckers is to give you a humbucker with a lot of clarity and twang and they suceed. But for that tone I prefer playing my single coil guitars or the regular Fralin HB's. The Unbuckers didn't do it for me...to clear.
Lindy's regular HB's are bright, articulate and clear enough...I didn't think I needed the addtional twang of the Unbucker design.
I have Duncan HB's in all of my humbucker guitars except for my Les Paul, which has the Tom Holmes HB's.
I love the Fralins and the Harmonic Design HB's...but I don't have any available humbucker guitars to install them in and I'm to happy with the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, Seth Lover, Antiquity, 59 TB and Custom Custom in my guitars to change them over to something else.
