Has anyone here used Wudtone Finish?

I'm building a Swamp Ash floyded strat and love the look of their Black Magic Woman strat. I have a figured all maple Warmoth neck and I think I'm going with a black pickguard. Here is a link. http://www.byoguitar.com/Guitar_Kits/Finishing-Supplies/Wudtone-Finishes/Body-Finishing-Kits.aspx
The only downside I see is that it is pricey.

I've got an ash strat that could benefit from the Amber treatment - Think I'm gonna go for it!

If you're going for the black one, it looks exactly the same as the guitar I finished with 2 THIN coats of Minwax PolyShades Black Satin. You will still feel the grain lines and everything just as if it was a Wudtone finish (as long as you don't fill the grain; I didn't). It is an extremely thin finish that doesn't "dampen" anything, avoiding the whole 'finish = difference in tone' argument. It is also A LOT cheaper, easier to apply, and more available.

I used the PolyShades on a Oak body, which is a similar wood to Ash.

Just remember to test it on a scrap piece of Ash or similar wood first. Should do that every single time you ever apply a finish.
