has anyone seen a les paul traditional pro gold top?

there is a guy on the gear page who has one that he wants to trade for my traditional plus. he is in NJ i have seen pics of the guitar and said he has the case and all the papers with it. the only worry i am having is i have never seen a traditional pro in gold top. none of the sites have them listed as a color either. from the pics i have seen it has the satin back and neck grover tuners and zebra pickups. he said it had the 60's neck and coil taps.

i know the back on the vintage burst and cherry burst i have seen were natural. but i have never seen one in gold top. from the pics i can not tell if the back is black or just real dark brown.

I believe they were offered in Gold Top for a while when they first came out. I vividly remember seeing them for sale on the Guitar Center Website. I'm sure it's a legitimate guitar.

yeah it probably is legit. i just had never seen or heard of a pro in that color. i have checked out the regular traditionals in gold top. but i can not find anything about the pro coming in gold top anywhere online.

The last guitar center flyer/catalog I got said the gold top is a guitar center exclusive...
I like the new wine red one!

I was real gassing for those when they were announced. The goldtops were limited to 100 across Guitar Center. Next run is the wine red ones out at the moment.

OT, but they should really make the Trad Pros part of the geg lineup - its one of the very few new models Gibson's made that has some really cool features with a realistic pricetag.

+ 1 Guitar Center limited run.

I saw those in the GC flyer and was GAS'ing for one for a while. They were hard to find, none of the shops around me carried any and there were not available over the internet...

Becuase its rare and limited edition, I'd be tempted to pick it up. Problem is, its still your typical LP traditional just with coil split... you can do that mod yourself...

Re: has anyone seen a les paul traditional pro gold top?

I actually saw the actual guitar you are referring to. Had it in my hands. Absolutely beautiful. You should have jumped on it when you had the chance. Limited to only 100 made from what I am told. Neck isn't quite as thin as the neck on my Classic 1960 LP but it was well balanced & the pickups sounded killer, even when split. Gibson has a winner on their hands there. The satin back wasn't black either if that has you worried. It's supposed to lighten and shine like a clear coat after years of use. I suppose only time will tell.
