Has anyone tried independent and 50s wiring on the same guitar?

One of the major drawbacks for independent wiring I hear is that when you roll back one volume the tone gets really dark. But 50s wiring fixes this problem in standard wiring guitars.

Does doing both fix this problem or does it compound it and make it worse?

Doesn't really fix it at all. Screws with the pot taper even more than 50's wiring, and rolling volume down really kills the high end in single pickup positions (bridge and neck). In the latter regard it negates the point of 50's wiring for retaining more treble. IMO, not anywhere near worth it for what benefit you gain in the middle.

I’ve found there are some good reasons they settled on ‘modern’ wiring as the de facto for guitar manufacture for the last 60+ years.

What about push-pull engaged or no-load tone pots??
