I love that Warmoth. I have question on that Charvel,( I recollect seeing this before on few guitars with locking nuts.) Is there any reason to place the locking nut behind the Nut?
Well that having said I can imagine one reason. If you don't want a locking trem, you can remove the locking nut and swap the floyd for a non locking trem.
Also it's easier to dial in the right string height at the nut this way, depending on fret gauge and such.
But I find those reasons a bit lame I prefer a regular locking nut.
Not really. In the 80s, Kramer was the one and only Floyd Rose distributor. That didn't make obtaining original FR hardware easier to other manufacturers, so they tried their best to walk around the problem and also avoid licensing fees where possible. This kind of locking nut wasn't covered by FR patents, as far as I know. I can't say I am a fan of this kind of nut. Converting the guitar to accept a regular FR nut isn't impossible, just probably not worth the effort.
The flat + staggered combo is a cool one. It gives a bit more variation in tones, IME.
I actually thought you said Screamin' Demon. IMO the Full Shred or FS/JB would be way OTT for those Maple /Ash guitars. ;78 for Ash, Screamin' Demon for Maple. Sorry, other pickups not an option IMO.
