Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

I've seen these around the shop selling in the thousands, but never managed to play one yet. Your thoughts?

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

well i played the first model they brought out (not the new one with the trem)

it sounded alright, nothing special but very versitile.

it played like a guitar half the price tag unfortunately though i was quite disappointed in the "feel" department

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

Yeh , i never got to plug it in but as soon as i picked it up i was like "yuck"..

doesnt feel very nice to play..

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

I played the first model. I thought it was a very average guitar, and I found some of the models were a bit off the mark. that said, on the les paul setting it DID sound a lot more like a Les Paul than any basswood bolt-on I've played...

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

I have a Variax 500 and it's a fantastic guitar. It did take a bit of setting up when I first got it but so did my Les Paul and 52 RI Tele....

That said, I think the guitar models are very nice. Heck, the Telecaster sounsd are better than both my 50's Tele and my 52 RI... The acoustics are very cool too; but you have to play the Variax like it actually is a dobro or a Gibson Jumbo. Now, the Variax 700? I cannot justify an extra $600 for cosmetics and better fit and finish...

Yes, they're cheaper Korean guitars made by Samick. Samick makes fne guitars though. And remember, if you're getting a guitar right off the wall and asking for it to play perfect without a proper setup, you're asking to be let down. I have played $5000 guitars that played like crap off the wall...

I had played it, and it is good playing guitar, it was quite cool looking without a visible pickup. I have a tryout with it into a Vetta2 at Guitarcenter and it sounded like crap. But there was a reason, I have the vetta on a resonator setting or a sitar setting something like that. It was on Lester mode and it pretty much ****ed it all up. I wanna play it again so I can give it a chance. Vetta2 is one amp that is a little confusing to use initially.

I've played them and I'm not really very impressed. The effects are nice, but I guess I'd like a little better playing instrument for that kind of money.

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

yeah but i think the thinking behind the scale length bolt on construction etc was so that users could put a replacement neck on

so if you like the axe you could always warmoth it.

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

Actually, Warmoth sells bodies for the Variax stuff.

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

I have tested Variax twice. For me, playing these was something like banging a rubber girl*. Cold and dead. The feeling is very different from that I want from an instrument.

Anyway, I like the idea. After the refined 3rd or 4th versions, I will just see.

* never banged a rubber girl

Re: Have any of you played the Line6 Electric models?

LOL im glad you cleared that one up Necro Polo!

TBH i dont see them making a high quality guitar, since the whole selling point of the guitar is the versitality at that price.

I dont know what difference a warmoth body would make to the tone but im sure a nicer neck would improve the feel 10 fold, because to me it felt like a chinese squier strat
