Re: Have you ever left stock pickups in a guitar?
I usually replace all the pickups in a guitar or bass, but there have been a good number of exceptions:
1.) Kramer Focus 1000. Whatever that humbucker was (Schaller?), it was perfect for that guitar.
2.) Kramer Focus 8000 bass. Again, assuming those were the original pickups, they got it right the first time.
3.) Jackson SL3. JB & Hot Rails. Don't mess.
4.) Fender Lonestar Strat. Texas Specials & Pearly Gate Plus. What's not to like?
5.) Gibson Faded V. 496R & 500T. Ya damn right.
6.) Ibanez JEM 7DBK. Breeds & Breed single-coil. It's hard to do better in a basswood guitar like that, for what I play.
7.) Jackson SL2HT. JB & '59. (I'll just pretend I didn't have an A2 in the '59 neck for several years.)
