Headphones From a Line Out?

I'm absolutely dying to play my Triple XXX, but I can't without a cab. I just realized there's a Line Out on the back of the amp, but there's no jack for headphones. I'm worried about keeping this amp in perfect condition so I figured I'd ask first, just in case: can I connect a pair of headphones to the Line Out to use the amp without a cab?

Re: Headphones From a Line Out?

No, sorry. A Line Out will not drive a headphone's impedence load. You will need another amplifier.

You CAN run the line out into something like your hi-fi, mixing board, multitrack recoder, etc and then use your headphones with the headphone jack for that. Just watch the volumes for both the guitar amp and the hi-fi.

Ok, thanks then. It's disappointing that I have to wait another month for my cab to come... I was going to rewire my Randall combo to use it as a cab, I guess I'll have to do that.

Plus, having the amp on without a cabinet plugged in (or a dummy load simulating speaker resistance), can seriously damage the transformer.

Very true, dear Jeffrey! :6:

NEVER turn a valve amp on without a cab connected.
