Re: Headstocks that keep you from liking a guitar.

I like traditional headstocks more than anything, but how can you think this is ugly? It's not pointy, it's not a huge "V", it's a PRS type shape with a dip in the middle. The ends are slightly more sharp, but not obtrusive. I thought it was a nice, original yet classy design. It's not the best pic...
Versus This:
I really don't like that dean headstock. Just looks like a cheap, bastardised PRS ripoff. Now, most headstocks are variations on a theme, but that one annoys me more than most.
My fave headstock: Tom Anderson. Even over fender. I think this preference goes back to loving the fender-style headstock used by Kramer on it's classic and Elliot Easton models (Tom Anderson designed the EE and built EE's personal 'kramers'). much of this has to do with seeing EVH use this type of neck on his Frankenstein around the 1982-3 period.
Other stocks I like: PRS, fender, gibson, suhr, EBMM, Yamaha. I like Tyler, though can totally understand why others don't. I like the Epi headstock, but only on more ornate models like the Sheraton.
I also like Kramer and Jackson hockeystick/pointy stocks, but only on appropriate guitars, and pretty much as a nostalgia thing. Though I would love to get a nice shredder strat to play onstage one day for a laugh, even though I play funk/afrobeat and my soloing style is pretty much blues-based.
I don't like: Most of ESP's designs, G&L (though I could live with it), non-stratoid Shecter stuff, Heritage, hamer, most ibanez, Peavey, most Dean, BCRich, pre-buyout Charvel.
Thing is, it's amazing what you can get used to. I won't rule out owning anything simply on headstock shape.
