Heard the Custom Audio Electronics OD100

So i went and heard the Custom Audio OD100 the other day.

i have mixed feelings about it. it sounded spectacually in some ways but sounded more fizzy. it tried to roll off the highs a bit to see if it went away but it didnt.
Also turned up the volume to see if it smoothed out but no.

kinda hard to describe. i mean it was still a super warm amp. real nice jucy and had great harmonics. just was a bit fizzy. not fizzy thin. it had a huge warm sound to it but had a bit of warm buzziness to it.

anyone play one of these suckers?

what do you guys think?

I've heard of similar things myself, from what I've gathered, with the right speakers, it doesn't have quite that fizzy topend. I was originally interested in them, but stopped caring about them ever since I found out about the Fargen VOS. There's so many quality amps out there nowadays, it's mind boggling... I'd love to play a Divided By 13 FTR-37 or a 65Amps Marquee Club.

Scott Henderson sounds pretty good through his. Last I heard he was still using greenbacks. What speaker were you using?

i was using a VHT 4x12 not sure what kind of speakers it uses.

i thought these amps were supposed to be made around the Brown Sound.

Brown sound? Thats not something I have ever heard.

Doh.....that is why it works great in bands, listen to some Landau and tell me he has a sucky tone
Or Henderson...it is modelled for good players who knows what works, these guys can make anything sound great as it is hehe.
You guys needs treatment for being afraid of topend in guitars
I have tried two, one I used in a gig with a 2x12 cab with old greenback 30 watts ones...smoking sound.
Made my old strat howl and moan like a.....er well you get the picture.

No one said they have sucky tone.
it was just a bit weird that the high end was fuzzy. but like i said it was real warm.
i thought it did sound quite brown.

maybe you are right about the high end thing, but then again Gibbons ( ZZtop) rolls back the highs on his rig big time. and he totally stands out as well. not to mention his tone is possibly the most beautiful of all.

To some perhaps..I like the bite from VH better
Some of Gibbons tones gets quite uppermiddy as well...love those sounds. Sits perfect to me.
But then again the Rev has used alot of gear during the years of Bearddom
