Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

I have not posted because I realize that if I have to defend myself,my Grammy Awards, choice of guitars(My Hamer Mirage-USA made, with two Seymour Duncan Vintage Rails, and one Seymour Duncan Hot Rails),locking spertzel tuners,Koa top,is hardly a junk guitar,as is My two Heritage "Golden Eagles",with my Seymour Duncan "Bob Benedetto" pickup,(another luthier friend of mine,Bob Benedetto hand made me a blond archtop Benedetto guitar) Did members of this forum know that Seymour Duncan ,the Man himself,is also a Heritage Guitar Endorsee,,as well as designs his special Seymour Duncan pickups for their guitar line?? http://www.heritageguitar.com/models/H150CMClassic.htm Read this url http://www.heritageguitar.com/newsletter/ You will find my name and photo here at this url,and see Mr.Duncan's name http://www.heritageguitar.com/artists/ Heritage was The original plant where Gibson guitars were hand made since 1917.I play, and Endorsee them simply beacause they are EXCELLENT hand made ARCHTOP guitars.I first met Seymour Duncan in New York many many years ago when Seymour was a studio guitarist, and remember playing sessions with him. This was right about the time he started his hand winding humbuckers, and he showed me the ones on his guitar.Positives:We all share our love for Seymour Duncan, and his EXCELLENT pickups.NEGATIVES:A lot of forum members made my experience here unacceptable to my self respect, and pride in all I accomplished in 40+ years of playing for virtually every celebrity in the music industry. If I am incorrect somone with some credibility please inform me.I could have shared the 40+ years I have accumulated as a session musician with somone who did not feel threatned by my presence on this forum,or my information on my various cd's etc.As an Seymour Duncan Endorsee,I wish all members A HAPPY JULY 4 .I am here to say just one thing:Seymour Duncan has created THE ULTIMATE GUITAR PICKUPS.I love the Enriched Sounds from all my Seymour Duncan pickups, even if I never did a recording session in my life.SEYMOUR DUNCAN IS TRULY THE BEST PICKUPS I HAVE HAD THE HONOR TO REPRESENT,and I AM Proud Seymour asked me to be an Endorsee. As for your rude comments,I truly feel sorry for you.I thought this forum was "THE PLACE" for pro musicians, and up and coming players to discuss different styles of performance, reading etc.OK,I said I recorded a new cd,and asked members to listen to it,just like most members on this forum. Was that a felony?I Noticed all members mentioned their websites(Do you have a website, repeated about 30 or more times-the ultimate in rude behavior)When,I answered a post my signature, and website come up.I was not looking for attention,(especially from you guys.I just wanted to help. What a mistake)It just happenned that way.I also offered to answer posts about soloing, general musicianship, pickup analysis, amp choices, guitar info, and helping my fellow forum members several times. Not one person asked me a question, except about my equipment, and how were the celebrity parties in the 70's,not about playing or performance.I am very proud of all my musical accomplishments, which never came to an end in the 1970's.I am still recording, producing arranging for Major Stars.I am 51 years old, hardly a VFW candidate boasting of my WW11 experiences.Don't you guys know that?? I hardly consider that SPAMMING!!!!!Oviously this forum is not for people who are serious guitarists,or my experiences here would have been totally different. Before My Final "SEE YA",.Listen to a brand new commerical I arranged, and produced for a new playright, who is opening a new Broadway SHOW in September in NEW YORK.I was asked to be his conductor.Maybe I'm too old! I will ask Eric Clapton,a friend of mine. He's 62,or 63! http://www.rohanvargas.com/audio/virgin_islands.html This WAS your loss,Sincerly,

It isn't so much your experience or whatnot. I'm sure you're a VERY talented player, though I'm not familiar with your work (I'm sure I've heard it before though and didn't know it was you). It's just that the shamless promotion stuff, kinda gets under people's skin. We understand that you're good, and that you've played with people, and that you have 16 grammy's, and that you have many websites....now, here's your chance to be just an average person on a guitar related website, sharing your experience....just be one of us? no need to mention all of your accomplishments, numerous as they may be.

and once again let me say, welcome back to the forum

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

I agree with CFF (Ups, the Avatar made me think Hoss, sorry Bro ;)).... AFAIK you´re welcome to stay, Carmine.... :beerchug:

In my experience (and this is nothing personal, ust a general observation of internet forums) it tends to be better to keep credentials under your belt until people start asking for them... Gone through that a few times myself ;)

BTW: I myself doubt that any internet forum actually has a menber base in which 30% of the people are full time Pro musicians... I think that number is closer to the 1%-5% range.... We here for example have over 5K members and I can almost count off the pros and full timers (including luthiers and techs) on my hands ;)

yeah, carmine .. i hope you stay .... zerb hit it on the head ... we dont sling resumes around to establish ourselves here ... it comes across as too boastful ... we just pitch in with our 2 cents on any given topic and share our knowledge, experience, and opinions respectfully and freely ... it doesnt take too long to separate out the blow hards from the guys who give rock solid advice ... it turns out that there are a boatload of really cool regulars here, each with a niche of real expertise, and some with more than one niche ... i have no doubt that if you stay and contribute in this way that you too can become a much valued contributer .. you clearly have alot of experience to share and some fun stories to tell ..
cheers

No one's asking you or prompting you to defend who you are, what you've done and what you play.

We are one large group of users here, all equal. Were a community. How we interact with others here is what creates our reputations.

We all have our backgrounds and areas of expertise. We have all spent time as players but almost none of us wear these events on our sleeve or as a badge of authenticity.

I began to realize that my my fellow forumites could possibly be comprised of maybe 30% full time pro working musicians, with the remainder hobbyist,or part time players. There is nothing wrong with being a part time player,or hobbyist.Sometimes these players become THE BEST MUSICIANS in the industry. I too at age 7+ did the garage band vibe.

See, and by just making this statement alone and giving credence to it by stating you were doing it at age 7 makes it come off as something I don't think you're intending to make it.

We don't care that you're a pro. We don't care that you've been playing for as long as you have. And most of us don't really care about your Grammys. All that we care about is that you play......everything after that's just gravy.

Positives:We all share our love for Seymour Duncan, and his EXCELLENT pickups.NEGATIVES:These people made my experience here unacceptable to my self respect, and pride in all I accomplished in 40+ years of playing for virtually every celebrity in the music industry.

There's an old saying that those that are offended are people looking to be offended. Being part of an online community means dealing folks that both agree with you and disagree with you, interacting with those that will rub you the wrong way and those that will back you up through everything.

But you've gone and done it again. Were all players. That's all were here to be about. Your credentials are impressive but let's be fair, they mean more to you than they will to us. And hauling them out as frequently to give credence to your presence here does LESS to make you a member of the greater community.

If I am incorrect somone with some credibility please inform me.I could have shared the 40+ years I have accumulated as a session musician with somone who did not feel threatned by my presence on this forum,or my information on my various cd's etc.As an Seymour Duncan Endorsee,I wish all members A HAPPY JULY 4 .Yes,I have A WEBSITE,over 3,000 websites, but I am here to say just one thing:Seymour Duncan has created THE ULTIMATE GUITAR PICKUPS.I love the Enriched Sounds from all my Seymour Duncan pickups, even if I never did a recording session in my life.SEYMOUR DUNCAN IS TRULY THE BEST PICKUPS I HAVE HAD THE HONOR TO REPRESENT,and I AM Proud He asked me to be an endorsee.Sincerly,

Were all here for the pickups......aint' no doubt about that.

But were also here because were members of a community first and foremost. No one is above anyone else when they start. You build a reputation based on what you post and how you interact with others.

I'm sorry to say this but you have to put in the time to get the reputation when you're in a community.

I have no doubt you're an incredible wealth of information and a virtual treasure trove of great stories and experiences. And for the sake of the place I'd like to see you stay. But this is a community of equals. If you're willing to interact with us as equals then I'm looking forward to seeing you in threads.

But if you're here with a chip on your shoulder or feel you're doing us a favor by being here then I'd suggest finding another outlet.

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

Mr. D'Amico...you don't have to explain yourself to anyone. :beerchug:

Please stay & share your knowledge, stories, & general love for all music.....that's kind of why we're all here.

Guys.....give it a rest & show the man a little respect! :nono:

Re: Hello from Studio jazz rock guitarist Carmine D'Amico

Skarekrough has it surrounded. In an on-line community everybody starts out the same. Your credibility here is based mostly upon what you do here.

I'll use my experience as an example. My first experience with internet forums was/is at a little corner of the web known as ttlg.com. It's a group of forums dedicated to the great PC games made by the now defunct Looking Glass Studios. The game "Thief" became my 2nd obsession after playing guitar.

Avaliable to anybody who wants it is a "level editor" (called DromED) that allows everyday fans of the game to create thier own missions for other fans to download and play. (It's all free) After hanging about for a year I began to do voice acting for fan mission designers who needed custom audio for thier missions. My early work was very well received by mission authors/designers and players alike. As a result requests for my acting talents snowballed and over the years I've voiced stuff for dozens of projects as well as aiding designers in testing thier missions and giving comments and suggestions as to how to improve them. In the last few years I've taken up DromEd myself and have released 4 missions of my own and thousands of people have played them.

As a result I don't have to post my credentials in threads there. Anybody who has been around for a while pretty much knows what they are. I contribute to the community because it pleases me to contribute, not because I am seeking recognition. Recognition is a by-product of my talent and hard work not the motivation.

I'm still a relative newbie to this forum but my behavior here is motivated by the same thing.

So pull up a chair and sit a spell. Folks with a wealth of knowledge are always welcome. :) And if somebody yanks your chain or gets under your skin...there's always this little guy. :fing25:

Good day.

A bit off topic, but with a last name like that, you've got to be Italian... non parla italiano?
