Hi
I am new to the forum. I am also new to electric guitars. Been collecting for a year. But I am not new to forums and boards since I also collect other stuff like wines etc. I find great satisfaction in souping up cheap guitars. Changing the pickups, strap locks, tuners, and stuff. So I collect electric guitars and change the stuff that can be changed - I do this because I enjoy doing it. (often I get stares from Luthiers whom I go to for major repairs and they ask me as to why I do it)
I joined this forum to further my knowledge on pickups and now it seems this board is a treasure trove of everything in an electric guitar that I am curious about.
I've been playing since I was 11 years old (I'm 47) however, just recently switched to electric guitar. I've had several years of classical guitar training ( - spanish guitar). I read notes but have not been doing so for a long time now. So my spot reading is very very rusty. I get together every weekend with some friends of mine and we jam and play Hard Rock and Classic Rock.
My questions are
1.
A friend gave me a used Bill Lawrence L-500 lead without screws and spring as well as mounting ring.
Anyone has spares that I could buy off? Or point me to where I can acquire them?
2.
So I bought a L-500 Rhythm off ebay so I am going to put them into an Ibanez GAX 70 to replace the PSND pups.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram that you can spare?
Any feed back on these pups? Does Anybody know the specs like output?
3.
That same friend gave me a Seymour Duncan Humbucker with a sticker at the back "JBJ-1. I measure its output using a friends meter before he left for out of state, and it measured 17.1 Ohms (So I assume this is for the bridge) so I managed to buy a Seymour Duncan Full Shred for the neck.
My question is
Does anyone know what type of Seymour Duncan humbucker is this for the bridge?
I plan to put these in an almost brand new Epiphone Les Paul Special II. Is that a good idea?
4.
Does anyone know anything about Schaller pickups?
Thanks
C
