Help! 5-way switch wiring

Hey guys need some help. fixing up my yamaha now with H-S-S config.
JB bridge, Lace Blue middle, SSL-2 neck.

ok inside my yamaha theres a 5 way switch, no tone pot.
so i just installed the pups, but somehow only the neck pup was working (under bridge mode on the switch)

its a very old switch, that has in-line lugs, unlike those in the duncan wiring diagrams with staggered lugs.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

currently this is how its wired.
1,2,3 empty.
4 = to vol pot (definitely wired to the correct place of the pot)
5 = neck pup
6 = middle pup
7 = bridge pup
8 = wire to lug 4.

pls help, need to get this up in 2 hrs, have to go to work in 4 hrs.

thanks

Re: Help! 5-way switch wiring

Thats incorrect. :)

Change it to this:

1. Bridge
2. Middle
3. Neck
4. Out to volume pot.

That should do it.

btw - 4 & 5 are the "commons". 1, 2, and 3 conect to 4. 6, 7, and 8 connect to 5.

Edit: found a pic. Ignore everything with a "2".

Re: Help! 5-way switch wiring

you're a life saver!
thanks! its working now!
but the switch is a little screwy still, sometimes no sound comes out. i guess cos its old. its sorta rusting and stuff already. haha need to get it replaced once my jam tonight ends.

Re: Help! 5-way switch wiring

Glad to help. "Old" and "rusting" isn't good switch terminology. :D
