HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

Yes, I know.

It's ridiculous to be trying to buy one of these things this time of year.

Retailers will not reserve them and they're pretending to have no idea when they'll be getting more. They want you to believe that the Nintendo Fairy just pops in with a cart of them at random times and drops them off, as if they don't show up at their respective distribution warehouses at scheduled times like everything else.

Nevertheless, I am foolhardy enough to attempt it. This is for my girlfriend for Christmas. I figure she does enough for me year round that I can bust my butt trying to do this for her. So.... if you have one, know someone who has one, or SEE ONE IN A STORE... please let me know. Ebay is severely out of my price range, but I am willing to go as high as $300 +shipping if the system works and is in good shape.

I know you could sell it on the Bay for more, but I implore you to consider the eternal gratitude and good karma you would reap by selling it to me instead.

check www.wiitracker.com alot of them that come up are bundles though.

You may try going to walmart aroun 10a.m., thats when they usually get there UPS shipments and they sell to whomever is there. I have picked up a couple in the last 2 weeks.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

A couple, huh?

Xmas presents or freelance business venture?

Thanks for the tip though - I'll give that a shot.

MOST walmarts get their UPS shipments between 1000-1200. I used to have to compete with those bastards for the dock every day at that time at a number of different walmart locations.

They probably dont come UPS anyway, they probably come on the regular truck from the walmart DC. I am almost positive that they would come from the DC.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

That's what I'm thinking too, Theodie.

The whole "we have no idea when they're coming in" shtick is just a bunch of BS to maintain demand.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

Shame on Nintendo for creating a false supply shortage to add to the hype. You know they've got better production numbers than this, especially since they've been out well over a year. They're turning off a lot of long-time customers.

Good luck in your hunt though :).

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

They're definitely not falsely creating a shortage, that would only make sense if they could then charge more for them. From any perspective at all Nintendo can't possibly make money by holding them back when demand is high.

I got mine the week they came out just by lucky timing. Walmart should get their shipments between 10 and 12.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

yup, between 10 and 12...I used to work for those bastards....hence why I got lucky with mine a year ago.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

I'll be there on Friday morning. I'm taking that day off to finish off my xmas shopping and plan to get an early start.

Do you guys think WalMart is my best bet?

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

I cannot begin to tell you the BS myself, my mother, my girlfriend and my brother have gone through trying to locate one for XMAS for my 8yo son.

Suffice to say, I think odds are you are SOL finding one anytime soon. We gave up.

I work for a card game manufacturer these days and I'm fielding a few calls here each day from people desparately calling any company with the word "game" in their business name trying to find a Wii.

I'm thinking I'm SOL too. I'm not paying $500 for one from Ebay, but unless you actually work for a store's DC and don't have to buy the BS the stores are feeding the consumers, it's hopeless.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

welp..when you think about it..

GameStop has roughly 5000 locations alone according to them. Now you think about all the Wal-marts, and Best Buys and Amazon and all the other brick and mortar electronic game places all over this country and lord knows what other countries where the demand is high. No way in h-e-double hockeysticks can Nintendo meet that demand.

I don't think the stores are giving out too much BS..at least IME.

Re: HELP A BROTHER OUT - WTB: Nintendo Wii

Just go from 10-12 everyday until you find it, or try to tip one of the stockboys in to letting you know. I guess you guys probably have jobs though...

I work for a 3D CAD software company, and my wife is an editor for a small custom print publishing company. I'll see if I can pull some strings and hook you up with a Wii.

Your friend,

Keith

Can you put my phone number on the "Do Not Call" List while you're at it?

Also, I'd like to order a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza.

:D

PS: I just remembered I told you I'd get you some POD patches. Sorry about that - it totally slipped my mind. I'll try to remember to get those on my zip drive tonight.
