Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

get a mirror finish pickguard. it would look super sexy on blonde

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

I would say tortoise, but since you said perloid was too flashy, maybe that wouldn't work.

Hey Jeff_H! I have a highway 1 too. Mine is routed for a full size humbucker at the bridge. I'd probably keep the stock pickguard man, but I'd put in a humbucker in the bridge (would cut the pickguard, or get a new one...)

Maybe you could put a C5, or a full size JB in there !! (I think that would be cool)
(Then u could install a mini switch for the single coils putting them in series)
(and then another mini switch that blends the series to the humbucker, then u got urself a StratPaul!!)

My hwy1 is red and I left it with the white pickguard and cream antiquities... i really don't care about it, as long as the sound knocks me out!!

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys....it seems black is winning. Mint green is running second. The guys over at Fender pointed me to a really cool site - -

Strat Builder

Pretty neat site. I picked Vintage White as the closest to my color, changed the fretboard to rosewood and then added pickups and controls. From there I printed pics of mint green, black, tortise, pearl and gold anodized. I'm going to try scanning them later this afternoon and posting them here. I'm leaning towards parchment, mint green or just leaving it now that I've looked at the picks...but the wife likes black and tortise for the contrast. We'll see.

Thanks again for all of the help....you guys rock.

Looks like you're set, but for my .02...TORTOISE SHELL would look perfect on that!

By the way....is that the one you got that were on close-out???

VERY NICE!!!!

Black
Or get a wooden one, maybe rosewood to match the fretboard lol.

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

I'd go with tortise shell.. Have one on sunburst strat and looks great!!

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

Here's another possibility to consider: white MOTO. I put one on my rosewood board, midnight wine Tex-Mex Strat and really like it.

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

Black pickguard definitely. With the white pups and knobs and switch, I think it'd look fantastic IMHO.

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

I'd go for a wood pickgaurd, some like brazilian rosewood... you know, a nice chocolatey brunette colour...

It's like having a threesome isn't it? You've got your blonde, so you want a brunette.

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

The more I look at that strat, the more I think black or tortoise.

Also, I'd rather see a tortoise on a blonde, than a black! LOL

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

i like it just the way it is

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

Brown tortoiseshell, with white/cream knobs and pu covers would be my choice. Tortoise goes very well with black and blonde.

Re: Help Decide Pick Guard Color For Blond Strat (Pic)

I vote for tortise. That strat CRIES OUT FOR TORTISE!!! :)

Got too good of a deal on them not to try em' out before dropping the $200 on Antiquities.

I hear what you are saying. I'm fighting the $210 Antiquity set, too. I'm trying to hold off in the hope that I'll find a used pair. I hear that they sound sooo good. I'm dying to try them.

Please let us know how the Custom Shop '54's sound. Again, I vote TORTOISE SHELL!
