Hello again, i am in the process of building a guitar from just the body, and i'd like to first get this out there that i am pretty much a noob to the wirings of a guitar... I was planning to put in Epiphone parts for my guitar, but don't want to have it sound like a Chibson...

This is the link of what i plan to buy...
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Real-Epiphon...Guitar_Accessories&hash=item46112b79ed&_uhb=1

and for the people that don't want to click the link, here is pictures .. Do they look like real parts?
thank you

Yeah looks like normal epi parts, right down to the wire and capacitors. They normally use alpha and JS pots which aren't the best on the market, but they're quite decent.

Re: *Help* Does this look legit?

OLD epi parts were c**p, but recent ones are way better. I have 2 LP-Jr's, the $99 plywood kind. THe older one has cra**y mini pots and a POS jack (have to bend it every couple months to keep it in contact) and the newer one has parts that look just like the ones you posted (everything has the EPi logo on them)
You can get a pre-wired ...wiring harness from a couple different places that have similar quality parts, for less than the one you posted

there's LOTS more out there. What you pictured would be fine, but it's all kind of mid-line Chinese stuff that cost what they do because of the EPi brand on them. Of course Stew-Mac has kits like this, but theirs costs 2-3X what yours will, because it's Stew Mac... (it's all quality stuff, but they seem to charge more then everybody else)

Re: *Help* Does this look legit?

What? Epis are indeed Chibson. But regardless of that, the electronic parts have nothing to do with sound. Probably cheap pots and switches don't last as long as Fender/ Gibson parts, but the ones in my guitars never fail since I bought them more than 6 years ago (my Epiphone (Chinese) in particular is 9 years old and never disappoints).

Some cheap pots do change the volume/ tone drastically, but if you keep your volume/ tone all the way up the whole time, this is a non issue.

Re: *Help* Does this look legit?

+1 for genuine, Epi-badged, generic SE Asian guitar electronics.

In my opinion, it does seem odd to go to the time, trouble and expense of constructing a guitar only to skimp on the pickups and controls.
