Help! fat strat wiring question

Hey I am installing my Pearly gates plus trembucker, but I am getting 60 cycle hum on the humbucker and in the 2nd possiton. Here is what I did, and tell me which one of these steps was wrong. Since it plays right and everything works, my first thought is just to reverse the positive and negitive wires....

BARE WIRE soldered to vol pot
BLACK WIRE soldered to vol pot
RED & WHITE WIRES soldered together and the instructions said to put them on the 5 way switch (same side as wires leading to vol & tone pots)
GREEN WIRE soldered to Switch (same side as other pickups are connected to)

Can anyone help me out????

thanks, thats how i got it, but are you really suppose to solder the red and white to the switch?? what will that do??

It' will split the humbucker in the # 2 position so you only get one coil of the humbucker in parallel with the middle single
