Hey plz plz can someone help me
I need to know exactly how to install a hot rails pickup (which wires to use etc...) because I have jsut installed one as told on this site and it sounds like a single coil :( i want a humucker setup [no buzzing!])

I have taped the red and white wires toghter (touching) and isolated so they dont touch anything else.

I have soldered the black wire to the switch
and soldered the green and drain (screen in gb!) wire to the volume pot

Is this correct - If not plz plz plz can someone tell me the right way?!?
Thanks alot
James

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

Sounds like you got it right. but it could be a bad solder joint or bad pot. Try the solder joint first, and if you still get buzzing, change the pot. You're not sitting right infront of the comp are you? if so, you're bound to get some buzz. Try soldering the red and white wires together instead of them just touching.

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

Ive done all that
My dads and electriction so hes done evertything rite
No bad joints and the pot is fine i dunno what to do.
Any one else got suggestions?

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

It should be quite. Check the reading and make sure you're getting something close. I coil winding could have broken during handling and installation that you didnt know about. If all else fails, then move away from the computer, amp, and flouresent lights. Or it could be your house, try a different outlet. Are you dirrectly under or very close to powerlines?

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

Its not my house or anything
Its the setup
Its a single coil not a humbucker im sure
its not sounding very powerfull

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

well..it seems everything else is ok...

tried adjusting the pup height??

the hot-rails is a high output pup. it should be very powerful.

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

a hot rail should be wired
black to the switch
green and bare to the back of the volume pot (ground)
and red and white soldered and insulated, make sure to solder it, a twisted connection isnt gonna hold up.
take a multi meter set on dc resistance and measure the green and black wires when the pup isnt attached to anything. do you get a reading of 16k or so?

Re: Help For Hotrails!!

Ive connected it as youve said
Ill try it with the multi meter when i take the strings offf thanks
