HELP ident. my MIJ Fender Strat

WITH FULL DISTORTION

F. Hails Railsologist
Hails guys.
i traded a long time(1 year) a jackson r10 for this fender strat
i have a lot of pics of her. clea pics....
in the rounded part of the headstock it says Squier series, and in the retangular part it says Fender stratocaster with synchronyzed tremolo.
i have pics of it, but i don´t know how to resize them and i can send them to you by email, no problem with that...... just give me your email adresses and i will send it.
the poickguard, bridge are not original, and the pups are not too.
i will replace them with dimarzios - class of 55 middle, blue velvet neck and Another one in the bridge that i will decide.
Hails.......
J.P

The guitar says, in the end of the neck, that it was made in JAPAN.
and the serial number is : N008384

PS - ALL THAT I WANT TO KNOW IS : DO I HAVE A REAL FENDER OR A CRAPPY SQUIER ?

Re: HELP ident. my MIJ Fender Strat

It's a Squier, hopefully Lew will join in...but those are, from what I've heard many many times, better than MIM and sometimes even MIA Fenders.

Can't tell you the year of your strat but I do own 2 Japan fender instruments myself...Here's what I do know..Most I've seen are Basswood body, some are ash on natural and sunburst bodies and alder,I normally can tell by the grain if the grain shows...Pickups in most cases I've seen are ceramic bar and you can tell by seeing the bar magnet on the pickup base plate..Electronics are inferior on some models in that they used micro pots...If this is the scenario....Get some nice pickups,CTS pots and upgrade the cap and wiring..Regardless of the body wood being basswood, alder, ash etc..The Japan made series are great guitars and I Prefer them to the MIM models...We do need to see some pictures of your axe because I'm speaking specifically about models that copy 50 and 60s strats and Teles...I may be way off base because I don't know exactly what model you have? But it's a start.. :13:

Re: HELP ident. my MIJ Fender Strat

Send me the Pics, I´ll host ´em for a few days ;)

But it sopunds to me like you have an ´80s(?) Squier. They were considerably better than today´s Squiers, and many of them were better than the USA´s of the time AND today´s.

Resale value is next to nothing, although dunno how the Vintage market is reacting to them, probably not at all. But the Player´s value of the old Squiers is amazing, particularly for the price. ;)
