Hi all,

Can any Kahler specialists help me identify what model of Kahler this is:

Can you also tell me if the actual model if a left-handed trem? It's hard to tell what's going on here.

Big thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure why a stud mount Kahler has been fitted on a Stratocaster but, there you go.

On the cam section, you should see three holes, machined vertically. The central one is for the spring tension adjustment. The outer ones are threaded to take a vibrato arm or a palm pedal.

As far as I recall, the Pro series bridges are not handed as such. The threads are drilled clockwise. You just need to bend the arm into a left-handed profile.

Re: Help identifying a Kahler Pro

Thanks kindly for this. Two questions. First, on the outer two holes on the cam section, if one of these is for the trem arm, then on a lefty guitar, isn't this going to be at an awkward angle - i.e., too high to play? Also - if you look closely at the first shot - does it seem as though a 4th hole has been drilled in the lower part or am I just seeing that?

Second - on the general idea of a stud mount Kahler on a Fender - you think it's a bad idea? Any sense on how a USA Fender body can handle it in terms of tone?

Thanks.

Re: Help identifying a Kahler Pro

The two outer holes in the cam should be identical. Simply install the arm in the hole nearer the volume knob.

Re: Help identifying a Kahler Pro

What you have is a 2200 Pro with steel cam and rollers. It was factory made in the 80's. Today it is handmade. The factory equivalent today is the 7215 and in your case, upgraded with a pro cam ($60). FYI: The 2 outside holes are for the arms..left or right. Left is used when trem is reversed. Also the extra unused arm hole can take a trick arm like the P or J arms. The lefty arm must also have a lefty bend. A right arm wont work well in a left hand hole and visa versa. The next 2 holes inward are arm clutch adjustments. When screwed down the arm becomes stiffer and wont dangle toward the ground. The clutch allows the arm to stay where you left it. The hole in the center is to adjust the springs... stronger when screwed down and weaker when screwed up. Also to regulate the arm position. There is 4 good videos I made about this stuff: http://www.wammiworld.com/How to vids.php

Pretty neat! I have the same Kahler, just waiting for an 82 Gibson to put it on....... :naughty: i'm going to say its either a 7216 or 7316. One fits carved tops, other fits flat tops.
