Help me choose the right delay pedal for me! Digital or Analog?

Re: Help me choose the right delay pedal for me! Digital or Analog?

I have had a Boss DD-20 and a BYOC 5-knob delay, and neither of them stack up to my new favorite, the Line 6 Echo Park.

I got mine for $50 used.

It does the analog sound in a way that I can't distinguish from the real thing, and it's capability on the digital side is so immense I can't describe it.

If you want analog, go analog! : )
Unless you need looooong delay time, analog is hard to beat.
I especially like the Way Huge Aqua Puss. My favourite so far.

Well, I've spent a couple of days with my new EHX Memory Toy.

Quick impressions:

1) It sounds great! The repeats are dark and thick, and the delay range is good enough for me. Also, the blend is interesting, because it goes from 100% dry to 50/50 to 100% wet. I wasn't expecting the last one.

2) The modulation switch is useless in stock form. It oscillates way too hard, however with a quick adjustment of the "mod depth" trim pot inside the pedal it went from nauseating to subtle and deep.
Now I never turn the mod switch off! It adds a tasty 3D quality to the repeats.

3) It has a slight boost of volume when turned on, which I didn't expect but it's become quite useful since it fattens up the sound. I don't know if that's intentional, but it's good.

4) Self oscillating the pedal is damn fun. :D

So far so good, a fantastic pedal. Can't see myself taking it out of the board!
Even if I get another delay pedal, it's very small so what's the point of removing it?

Never ever remove any delay pedal from any board. Take mine for example... I have 3 lol

Glad you made a decision, haha. Those seem like cool pedals.

Self-oscillating any delay pedal is way more fun than it should be. It lets me pretend I'm in Radiohead for at least thirty seconds. :D
