Help me decide what upgrade to do on my amp.

Hey whats up, I've been lookin to get a new speaker and new tubes in my marshall dsl 401. I'm pretty sure I am going to do the speaker upgrade now, eminence gb12. But I'm also not sure how much new tubes would effect my tone, because I bought my amp off of ebay and the seller stated that he recently had the amp serviced and replaced the power tubes with GT el84s. The reason I want to do these upgrades is because whenever I turn my amp up relatively loud on distortion a kind of buzzy, nasaly, undesirable sound is present that gets lighter when I drop the mids but still there. I want a very clear, solid, sweet sound on overdrive similiar to cantrells tone on man in the box(ya I know, bogner etc.) just something solid and clear and beefy. According to the information given, what upgrade do you think is most important now. Tubes or speaker? I've heard that a speaker upgrade on this amp is a huge improvement. The new speaker will be about $55 and the tubes will be anywhere between $80 and up for JJs not including rebias (if thats necessary???) sorry for it being so long, thanks

I recommend giving Mojave Ampworks a call. They are masters of the marshall sound. They are in Apple Valley California. 888.517.2166. They have been doing repairs and mods on marshalls for a long time. They also build a line of amplifiers.$$$. might want to consider mojo speakers as an option also. I've heard that they have great sound characteristics. I played a bogner and got the same sound you're describing.
