help me design a new pickguard

Davey

Goliath of Tone
since i pulled the old SG junior PG off cos it was cracked, i had this replacement pg on it, which i made myself.. well, on pic it looks ok, but it's horrible in person.. couldnt bother with it more than 3 minutes...

now, i got a gig next saturday (the 20th) YAY!!!! and i want it to look ace.

i was thinking of putting up a mirror at first, but that is prone to cracking, so i switched to the diamond plate idea. which design, i dont know yet, but it's gonna be a diamond plate.

so.. this guitar was originally a p-90 at bridge no neck pup guitar.. i wanted more so i carved it up. the bridge bucker is still residing in the p-90 housing. now i want to put it into a proper mount ring. i attached a couple of (crappy) pics of my thoughts, so you get the general idea of what i'm after.. i'd rather have something like the 1st pic, looks a bit cleaner and it's easier to cut the thing, but then there is a hole left of the dogear cover. i intend to sell it cos i want to get a jackson instead, so looks are important.. i should get it refinished anyway as it's got lots of bruises and things.

please post your ideas and designs. there is a 'blank' photo also so you can upload it.
thanks for any input guys

Me-I'd go with idea #1,following the flow of the body looks better.I'd wonder if the thickness of the diamond plate would interfere with playing. What about using a piece of 1/16" aluminum and giving it a brushed look?
Should be able to get that sort of stuff fairly inexpensively at a hobby shop.

BTW- that avatar cracks me up,where did you find that pic and who is it?
i can get a 1.5mm thick diamond plate around here.. i have yet to find a flush pickguard that will interfere with my playing (hate the ones on les pauls) so there's no biggie there. i fiddled with the brushed aluminium idea also and i didnt ditch it 100% yet (as it's be even easier to get the shape done)

it's the guitarist from limozeen... obviously you dont watch strongbad on www.homestarrunner.com click SB emails =) they're featured in the cartoons band names, flashback, hairstyles. sometimes you have to click a line in the screen or a poster to see the sxtra hehe. i recomend flashback =)
