learn legatto using 3 note per string scales. that will help you break out of that rut. satriani uses a lot of that stuff, maybe you should learn some of his solos.
eric johnson is another stepping stone too. he uses a lot of pentatonics, but he mixes it up pretty good. he's always going 1,2,3,4,5..... but he moves around different positions a lot, throws odd notes in between, uses hammer-ons and pull-offs, and little jeff beck bends and stuff.
