Help me pick a stain color (Ash)! Post pics of your favs

I really like that transparent orange that Ascension posted for that body...next fave from this thread would be #3 above.

That orange is indeed pretty rad.

I had not really considered any traditional red/orange/yellow/etc bursts for this particular build since I already have 2 in those schemes.

Guess I wanted something a little different, but I’m not against it.

Actually makes the selection process easier, going with something I know and love. (Cherry and honey hurts my fav).

It’s like with bridge humbuckers: over the years I perpetually try out millions of different pickups every time I get the opportunity to it seems, but always end up with a variation of the JB or Distortion winds (or hybrid with a Custom series coil). Once I accepted that, it made the dragon chasing more manageable hahaha.

Love the amber and antique violin as well.

As long as you don’t go Antigua on us I think it will look great. Nice piece of wood! Northern ash is a bit heavy but I live how it sounds. I also love the pickup configuration.

Of course, right when I think aim getting close to a decision, I come across this Azure Lagoon from wudtone.
Bet it would look killer with the maple nightswan neck and gold hardware.

Keep coming back to honey burst tho (or a cherry/honey hybrid). Always have been a huge fan.

I’m probably going to order another body in black limba or walnut and do that one natural.

This still an active project?

I think many on this thread are forgetting that a gold floyd is meant for the bridge, if that is indeed still the case.
If so, then you should really go with that moss green transparent look. That color just looks perfect with gold.

Like on the 7-string Aries moss green on the first page.

I really liked this from Jackson. Under certain lights it has a reddish tint, while with other it's completely grey like on the stock photos:
