Help me understand this pickup....

My new Anderson has an H3+ in the bridge which is what they consider very hot.

i am trying to compare it to all of my Duncan PUs. The DC Resistance of this pickup is 16.15k (I used a meter) which makes it hotter than my normall Custom Custom or Custom 5 but actually less hot than a JB, Distortion or an Invader. I am not sure about the magnet in the H3+. The pickup sounds more like a Dimarzio than a Duncan to my ears. Similar to Evolution.

The thing I love about this PU is how great it sounds when split. It sounds almost exactly like a true single coil.

Anyone ever tried these Anderson PUs? I probably wouldn't have ordered a guitar with this hot PU but I am not ready to rip it out yet.

Re: Help me understand this pickup....

I think your guitar would look cool with a nickel humbucker, like a CC or C-5, only because it's kinda in style now, and also it'll look better next to the Anderson single/s.

The only issue is to see if the stock pickup ring is big enough to accomodate a nickel tremspaced. You can still use a regular spaced.....I do it all the time, and it's fine. Also, you might want to find out if Duncans will jive with the Andersons, when it comes to phase and humcancelling. I've never mixed Duncans with Andersons, but I know what you mean about that bridge being too hot. Another option is to contact Anderson, tell them you just bought a new guitar from them, and would like them to swap your hot humbucker with one of their 'less hot' models. I'm quite sure they'll work with you, if you bought your guitar from a dealer.
