Ok so heres the deal I need a nice combo to gig and do band practice with I needs to have really good cleans and break up good. I play clean to medium gain rock. I have narrowed my choices down to a few but if you have some other ones please say so, keep any sugestions at about $800 or under. here are the amps is got so far:
Ampeg Rocketverb(i have never played one and need some opions)
Fender Deluxe reverb
Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue
Peavey Classic 50 212 or 410

Im really leaning towards one of the fenders but id like to hear others opions.

Re: Help me with my amp choice

peavy 5150, or 6160 whatever it is called now, that pretty decent. Laney VC series amps, otherwise im not sure

Re: Help me with my amp choice

The Peavey's aren't a bad option, but I'd lean much more towards the Fenders myself. It depends on how dirty you're getting, and your own taste. Try both Fenders if you can to compare - both have pristine clean tones, but make sure the flavor of breakup is to your liking.

Re: Help me with my amp choice

The peavey's don't have a whole lotta head room... I can crank my 50 watt 2x12 up to atleast 11 on the volume knob, and its breaking up so much at that point its just not really worth having a lead channel. Probably just the ****ty stock tubes.

The clean channel is amazing until you get loud. The lead channel is the same way, amazing till you get too loud. Then it sounds like the tubes are over distorting or something.

Yes, I am perfectly aware that I'll go deaf...

If I could have afforded a fender, I would have got one... But I got this for a 3rd of what most fenders sell for.

Is it safe to assume by "Fender Deluxe reverb" you mean vintage rather than reissue?

Re: Help me with my amp choice

there is nothing wrong with the new Deluxe Reverb Reissues if you are on a budget. all that amp needs is good tubes and to snip that bright cap out of the circuit and it's a nice amp that you can find for 500 bucks used. that leaves you money left over to buy better tubes and a new speaker. that DRRI needs a new speaker first before the tubes.

Re: Help me with my amp choice

another option is to build a 5E3 type amp, but use 6L6 power tubes and slightly bigger iron.
